Academia wants something more than just making something up. They want something they can verify to be accurate. And in this case, "verify" means "Show to be true by using evidence from the real world that can be measured and double checked by lots of people in different ways."

Of course, if you just want something more than, "We don't know for sure yet," then anyone can make up anything, and if you make it sound fancy enough, people might even believe you. But that don't make it true, and if you can't produce any evidence to support it, there's not a single reason why anyone should believe it at all.

95% of cosmology is modern epicycles because they can't get the math tested to a 99.8% accuracy in the solar system to non-ionized matter to work without those epicycles outside the solar system. Even if we know it is 99.8% accurate without those epicycles.

But like most you can just continue to believe the epicycles are necessary, even if the math is 99.8% correct already without them when applied to non-ionized matter.

No they don't. As shown in every single particle accelerator, the results do not jive with the theory..... So apparently they don't depend on it.... Apparently at low energies (atomic clocks), the errors are just insubstantial, versus high energy states, where the errors compound and can't be made to fit..... just because the errors are not substantial at low energies do not mean the errors do not exist.....
