"My parents did. I guess they had just been ignoring it or something though. when I went back it was like I was some random kid they had pulled in off the street and who couldn't be trusted in the slightest. nobody would...." she groped for words. "connect with me. I don't think my mom met my eyes for more than three second the whole time I was there. and my brother would stare at me, then duck his eyes and look guilty whenever I caught him at it. nobody could relax." once she got started it actually felt really good to vent, though Flame probably wasn't all that interested. she took a deep breath.
Calm. Down. chill out. not that huge a deal.

"so. nothing going on around here? I'm sure we could find something to do." Anything with which to ignore the fact that I'm at school on a Sunday because no one I know is willing to talk to me anymore?

Jason stood up too. How about some good old basket ball. I havent played in a while.

So the two of them headed for the basket ball courts.

"since you were born? how'd they find out?"

"they did the test at the hospitol where i was born. i guess My parents really wanted to know. " Jason really wanted to change the subject. he'd rather talk about anything but his parents. "So have you gone superspeed again, since our collision?"

Once back, Sammy left the car and walked over to a bench in front of her building. She layed her head in her hands and cried. She hated what was happening to her, she hated what her parents did, but mostly she hated that she couldn't figure out her powers. So she just sat and cried the pain in her head away.

Connor left his room and headed out for a jog. HE had always worked out when he was at home, but since arriving he hadn't really had the time for it. Now he did. As he ran the wind blew his hair backwards. He closed his eyes for a moment, enjoying the air, when he opened his eyes he saw a gir sitting on the bench. At first he thpught she might be asleep, but then he saw her body shake. Concerned, he jogged over and knelt down infront of her.

"Um... are you alright??"

"I've practiced a little bit. I still can't stop if I'm running full tilt, but I have stopped once when I was- well, it's hard to explain, but I can control the speed, a little bit. I was going slower than I could and I managed to stop. My legs hurt afterwards though. I've even managed to do it with only my arms. once. I tossed my puzzle ring through the roof and accidentally punched myself in the face. I think when I'm not concentrating I can reabsorb the momentum, but once my brain drops back to normal speed I can't control my speed anymore. which sucks, because the stuff that causes me to drop back to normal is usually needing to control my speed. like the first time you saw me. I was going to crash into a tree."

Jason nodded, not really understanding a word she said. He picked up the bascket ball on the ground and through it directly into the hoop. "oh, yea! i still got it. So you any good?"

After Hope had walked around most of the campus, she decided she should get out a little and see what was around. They were more in a secluded part of town since the FBI wanted to try to keep them out of the spotlight of the public especially if controversy started developing about what they were doing. There were several abadoned building right outside of the campus, but Hope had noticed that there were some shops that looked interesting not to far from here. It would be good to go on a walk away from the campus and do some window shopping.

She hadn't gotten more that a couple of blocks away from the campus before she got the feeling that she wasn't alone. She looked from side to side but tried to not make it too obvious that she was looking around. She quickened her pace suddenly wanting to get somewhere that would have more people around. Then she saw a guy step around the corner of a building up ahead and start coming toward her. As he neared her, she heard him say to her, "Hey there, you go to that school up that way?"

Somehow she knew that he already knew the answer to that question. She heard something and turned to see three other guys come up behind her. They looked like they may have been the guys she had seen earlier. She was completely frightened now and tried her best to remain calm. "Uhh, yeah, I do," she said trying to keep her voice normal.

"That's unfortunate," the guy in front of her said and she heard the guys behind her laugh. "You don't really belive what they teach you do ya'? Cause ya' know they won't ever let you have full use of your gifts, they're too afraid for that. If you want a real education, you should join us. Let me introduce myself," he gave a haughty smile and Hope could see his face light up, literally, with some kind of light. "They call me Ray and I'm the leader of a little," he chuckled, "support group we have around her."

When Hope didn't say anything and just stood there, he added, "well, I'll let you think about it, but don't wait too long before getting back to me about it." With that he turned and walked away, the other guys following him. One of the guys, who looked to be a bit younger than the others, lagged behind. When the others were up ahead a ways, the younger guy turned and said, "look, maybe you should just stay on the school ground for a while." He turned to glance at the other guys, making sure they weren't missing him. "It'll be safer for you that way." He then turned and caught up with the other guys.

Hope raced back to the campus as fast as she could slowing down only once she got inside the campus gates. She started back to her dorm room when she saw someone on a bench with her head in her hands. It was Sammy. Connor was there too kneeling beside her. Hope thought maybe she should leave them alone, but then she thought maybe those guys from the gang had been bothering others too. She had to know. "Hey," she said as she approached. "Is everything alright?"

Sammy looked up at the boy.

"Um... yeah, I- no. I don't know.."

She looked up and saw Hope approaching.

"Hey," she said as she approached. "Is everything alright?"

Sam shook her head.

"My parents disowned me and I was threatened by a mutant gang. Oh, and I can't even figure out how to use my darn powers. Other than that I'm perfect."

She put her head back down into her hands and continued to cry.

((Hey true is Pixie okay? and when would be a good time to jump in?))

((Both characters are good. Jump in anytime, you can either say that your character has moved in late or else has been there the whole time and just hasn't appeared in the storyline yet. Remember at first their powers are undeveloped or there's a good reason why they are developed.))

Hope looked from Sammy to Connor and back again. It didn't look like either of them necessarily wanted her to leave, so maybe it was okay that she was there. She cautiously sat down next to Sammy on the bench. She didn't feel like she was close enough to the girl, or anyone here really, to give a lot of comfort. But at the same time, no one here knew each other than well and it would be nice to have someone to talk to if she were in the situation Sammy was in.

"Wow, sounds like you've had a really bad weekend. I'm sure none of the agents care that you don't know how to use your powers yet. They said we all have to go at our own pace, it'll come to you. I hardly have any control over mine either." Hope was trying her best to bring out the positive. But the other issue were much harder to put any positive light on.

"So uhh you've had some run ins with gang member too huh?" She bit her lip after she had asked that. It might not be a great idea to have Sammy think too much about her problems right now, especially if they had been as frightening as what happened to her. But it might be good to talk about it and Hope had to know if Sammy had the same kind of experience with the gang members as she had just had.

Connor looked back and forth between the two girls.

"Look... I'm not sure that I can be of any help with these problems, but I do know one thing. Ice cream always helps. We still have one more day of free time, and I saw a really cool ice cream shop not far from here. Either of you interested?? My treat."

.........................................................................

Sammy smiled. "Ok. Ice cream sounds good. Thanks." she sniffled. At least her new home was full of friends.
