• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Hi again,
If you've seen my previous posts, you'll know that I was obsessing over cleaning up my hard drive for anything bad (ie a meme with a bad symbol in the corner or a photo of the street from vacation but someone has a shirt on with a bad symbol on it).
I scrubbed my hard drive. Cleaned up the cache for temporary internet files. Completely reset my tablet. Deleted my browsing history.
And then I thought, "What about my music playlists?" Where I have orchestral music saved, stuff on the YouTube music app such as "Most Beautiful Music Ever" and it's a bunch of independent artists making instrumental/orchestral pieces.
Except, they sorta sounded New-Agey. So lately I've been listening to other things... but the songs are still on playlists.
So last night I scrubbed a few playlists. But I feel i need to go through everything, every app, every account I don't even use anymore, to un save any potentially harmful music.

I just feel overwhelmed and sick and depressed.

I just responded to your other post - so, my opinion about that is the same for your music playlists. Basically, don't do things because of OCD. :)

How have you been doing the past few days?

Hi Mari, thank you so much for your replies. I've been doing a bit better--actually been able to sort of "deal with" most of my obsessions to the point where yesterday I was aware of not really having anything pressing on my mind and kind of waiting for the other shoe to drop. (It did, but it's an obsession that is similar to the other ones and I'm basically just telling myself "this feels like OCD, so I'm not going to bother with trying to answer this unanswerable question.") Also, I've found that if I give myself a second or two before doing a compulsion, I'm able to think a bit clearer and realize that I actually didn't/don't need to do it.
I am very tired of being anxious all the time; I've been waking up feeling anxious almost right off the bat. But, I think I'm making progress, slowly. :)

That's the way to do it! All those little choices we make against OCD do add up, and we do make progress, slowly but surely! :)
