music review sources

do people check out music review sources before buying new music? I guess I will read a review and then try and find an mp3 before buying b/c in the past when I went on just the review, I found i wasn't always as into the band as the reviewer.....

I read pitchfork, but I definitely don't always agree w/their opinions....Actually, that's the only on-line website that I know of that is focused on reviews (at least for more indie rock stuff). Anyone know of any others that are decent?

I like insound b/c you can clikc on a related artist page and find bands that are similar to your current favorite/obsession.

epitonic is great for finding mp3 and getting a sample, they also do a related artist bit

I check out the bands at allmusic.com then download a song from them... then if i really like them, ill buy an album.

That's the greatest site ever. If I want to know anything about any musical act I can find it on there. Awesome site.

I don't really go by reviews. Each person thinks differently about different styles of music. Like while one reviewer may think a new MSW album rocks, I can't stand MWS... I need to hear with my own ears.
