• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

A couple of points , why does the Vatican need to say anything? Stealing is stealing , most people who d/l music know its illegal. You would have to be living under a rock to not notice all the attention its getting in the media.

Secondly the RIAA are money hungry thugs, they are not out their trying to protect their artists. They are trying to protect themselves. Let's face it they know digital music is the way of the future. Instead of embracing the technology and positioning themselves to the future, they are trying to cling on the past.

Because too many people don't want to admit it's stealing.

I guarentee you that if the Vatican didn't say anything about abortion, there would still be plenty of Catholics out there convinced that it was morally acceptable.

First of all, do you work in the field and know this from first hand experience, or are you just buying into the propoganda that is spread around.

Second of all, even if they are money thugs, does that make it ok to steal from them?

ASCAP, SESAC & BMI are the three major royalty companies in the US. Every radio station pays these companies based on spins. You listen to the radio for free because the radio station pays for each time they spin the song on the air. Commercial stations are assuming you will buy products from their sponsors where non-Comm's are assuming you will donate to them. If a radio station pays for every spin what makes you think you shouldn't?

It is illegal to download music.

As for concert profits, do the math. The artist gets a pitance of the profits on the concert. Once they've paid their road crews, bus maintenance and gas, gear costs, and promoter shares, their down a bit in profits. The ticket fee also covers for the promoters costs for the facility, union crews, security, transportation, etc. Many of the major artists are doing free shows for major reporting stations. Why do they tour, not for the show money but to promote their cd's! Haven't you ever noticed that the tour begins when the cd releases. They want you to BUY the cd.

As it is the direct cd profit is marginal but it pays for the production, promotion and other peripheral costs as well.

Don't steal the music.
