  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I bought Rolling Stone in the airport this christmas on my 5 hour layover.
It was the only one there. Either that or a magazine that tries to tell me I am too fat, should starve myself and wear $1000 jeans ;)

i'm not going to vote, because i haven't really looked at many of those mags. i've looked through a couple Rolling Stone's, and i don't think they're as bad as everyone says. just like mtv and vh1... no one does anything but whine about how mainstream it all is these days, and how much better it used to be. it's impossible for any mag or tv station to cater to every idividual's music interests.

sure, most of what's in Rolling Stone doesn't interest me, just like i don't like 90% of what's on mtv, but if they have interesting interviews with a band or artist that i like every once in awhile, ride on.

besides, reading poisons the mind. :)

I'm more likely to read musical instrument magazines like Guitar One and Guitar Player, since they profile the guitarists, whom I tend to be more interested in reading about. :)

I like Guitar mags .......... my fav is Guitarist .

Most of my music reading happens online-- Brainwashed, Aural Innovations, Ptolemaic Terrascope, Head Heritage, etc.-- but there are a few magazines I like:
Grooves: Experimental Electronic Music, Magnet, Ptolemaic Terrascope, and a bunch of "musician" magazines (there's another thread for this in the "Let's Jam" forum here...)
