Murder in God's Name?

Jesus said there will come a time when people will kill in His name, but it's because they don't know God.

Looking over history, has the church (which it would have to be to kill in Jesus' name) been guilty of this, and if so, what do they do with this verse?

They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service.And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me

But so to have the professed Protestants, The Protestants had no problem with killing the Indians, One of the most famous massacres of Indian women and children was the Colorado Sand Creek Massacre led by Col. John Chivington. An ordained Methodist minister and Sunday school teacher,

And I believe it will happen again, You can see the seeds of it right here in this and many other forums on the net, Those who profess to love Christ but hate their brother,

To harsh? Can't ever happen? According to the bible there is one coming who will make it happen,

i dont blame catholics of today for things done wrong in the past. its just not right to do that. Too many people do horrible things in the "name of God" that it makes me sick. Protestants as well as catholics kill in the name of God.

The non-Calvinists like to brand us Calvinists with this as well for that whole Michael Servetus affair.

I was not saying RCC, I was saying those who killed in God's name. As posted above, it is not only RCC's who have done this.

The original post sounded like troll bait, although I admit that there are genuinely people who are curious why people use "religion" as an excuse for violence. If that was your intention, I apologize. I guess I am suffering from "anti-Catholicism shock" from the numerous people on the forums who see fit to blame the RCC for everything. You have my deepest apologies and I agree, using Christ as a reaason to commit violence has nothing to do with Christianity.

U can look all through history and see people doing evil things in the name of God and for the most part it was to cover their true motives (greed, lust etc.). If a person is a true follower of Christ then that person will not murder (killing for reasons like saveing life etc. is not murder). God did at times have His people kill others to bring judgement on them, and God will use one nation to bring judgement on another. Probably most that has happened in this world is because of evil people doing evil, in God name is for a cover so their true motives will not be seen, and to get the people behind them like some things our own Gov. does. I hope helps u a little.
