Many of the tornado dreams people have posted here related to taking responsibility. People were among others, saw the tornado first, tried to warn others about the dangers, and showed heroism when others were moving too slowly or passively.
We usually just think about tornado dreams showing turmoil and uncontrollable invasion of trouble.
I think there is also an element of personification in tornadoes, like we are face to face with the danger. An isolated, specific thing that stands out, arrives and can leave, but has a mind of its own.

The Passover story shows great suffering in a land, and God providing a way of escape for anyone who followed His instructions.
The protection wasn't even based on spirituality or past accomplishments or amount of faith. It was a straightforward choice to agree to paint the doorposts and follow the other instructions. Jesus saves those who agree to accept forgiveness. Simple and sweet.
