I thought this was very refreshing. I do not have kids. But this sure shows how we should truly come to God as Children. :)

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over my yard.
My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can make a wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and I look away.

My kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so I sit self-consciously and listen.

My kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk.

My kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When I pray, I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that.

My kids say, "Hi God! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and dirty carpets.

My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from?
No wonder God loves the little children!!

It is nice to hear of kids doing kid like activities, too many are spaced out in front of the TV or computer these days. In the UK teachers are actually having to teach children how to play the playground games that have been passed down by generations of children, but have sadly missed this generation of kids.!

There is hardly a day that passes that I don't wonder the same thing. My children have taught me so much and it's such a blessing. The thing that strikes me is my 5 year old, Emily. When God speaks to her, she hears it so clearly. She has such a loving, kind heart. Sometimes I feel like even though I'm supposed to be a good example to her, she's an even better example for me. She has her wild-child days, too, though. ;)

Thanks for posting this, Beauty4Ashes. :)

Love, Heather

I learn the most amazing things from my kids every day. So often in the evenings, my adult brain is wrapped up in the things that must get done (or worse, my selfish desire to do things for myself) that I get impatient with the bedtime routine--especially when my 3 year old insists that I "check on him" 15 times. (If I wait too long, I'll hear him upstairs... "Yoohoo! You forgot to check on me!")

But when I let go of those other things and just immerse myself in spending time with him, we both have so much fun, and I get so much joy out of it. I think that having kids has taught me a lot about how to enjoy life.

My grandson is just two years old and is a wonderful little guy. His mum is expecting another baby in August, she gets very tired and needs to rest as she has a demanding part time job as an occupational therpist. Quinn insists that his mummy lies down and has a rest, he tucks the duvet around her, then sits on bed and sings to her, or reads her a story!!!!
