Muchmusic Fans

Is there any fans that are Muchmusic fans in case you all that aren't from Canada but have heard about this station it is the Canada's version to VH-1 and/or MTV. It will celebrate their 20th Anniversary on the air and I first caught glimpse of the channel when I was reading about a former and one of the original vjs turned CBS Senior White House Correspondent and current Dan Rather substitue and heir apparent John Roberts aka JD Roberts. He had a huge mullet(think the Mel Gibson mullet in the Lethal Weapon movies) and put the sexual tension on the network and other vjs like Jeanne Beker(now a fashion correspondent), Erica Ehm(globe-trotting reporter)The late Michael Williams, and Comic Relief Christopher Ward also a musician, songwriter, reporter, entertainment guru!! People say though they like the channel, nothing does and/or compares to those and the "original" vjs!!

I'm not a huge fan but will watch occasionally (no secular music for lent tho!). I generally end up watching it at work because my girls watch it... but other than that, not really. I find there's WAY too much sex, mainly in the imagery but also in the lyrics. It's certainly not edifying.

I haven't bothered with MM in years. Sometimes I watch MuchMoreMusic though. It's watchable. I remember some of those old VJs! I got to meet Erica Ehm when I went on my grade 8 Jr. High Toronto trip. I didn't really care at the time. I was more concerned about the Vancouver Canucks winning the Stanley Cup(which they didn't; stupid New York Oilers).

Anyone miss Steve Anthony? (I heard that he was always drunk. Can anyone substantiate that?)... I met Monica Deol last year. That was pretty sweet. I don't really watch much (pun intended) anymore but, sometimes, if I am cleaning or something, I will put it on.

I haven't heard from him since he left Much... but I'll check with my brother. He lives in Toronto right now. Monica Deol is in Vancouver as a news anchor for a local station.

You described him as the late Michael Williams. When did he pass on? Did he have an illness...What happened to cause his death, etc.? Sorry if that sounds rude or nosy, but I am curious. I loved early MuchMusic (80s/early 90s) & always found Michael Williams to be very pleasant, soft-spoken, courteous, intelligent, & knowledgeable about music. I enjoyed watching him & many of the other early VJ's. I learned of Dan Gallagher's death right away when that unfortunately occured, but never heard that Michael Williams was gone until now. Can someone tell me what happened?

I like some of the original Much Music programming, and some of the videos are actually good, although many are just nasty. I'm not liking the influx of MTV programming though.

I've seen some pretty interesting, good debates and shows on Much about body image, media, etc. I also like some of the interviews on there. It's too bad they have to muddle the good stuff with the not-good stuff!

You are so right on your assessment of JD Roberts - John Roberts of CBS news now. The affairs with Erica Ehm and others went on and on, and still do. I was one of them, and I learned at the end that only God was the one I could count on. JD, John continues his "ways" and I hope that some day he discovers the God he so needs.

Steve Anthony (if it's the same guy), is a DJ on the radio station Mix 99.9 in Toronto. You can hear him weekdays 4-7pm (99.9 FM).

I didn't know that Michael Williams passed away. Where is this info from?

I've met Terry David Mulligan before. He is from Muchmusic, and still does tv stuff all the time. Nice guy.
