  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I recently got MSN on my computer. Well actually it came with Windows XP that my dad got, but I just decided to use it.

I have a few questions:

What is the difference between MSN and hotmail? By that I mean, I see e-mail addresses that look like this: BobSmith@msn.com, and then I see this: BobSmith@hotmail.com. What is the difference between the two accounts?

Also, what is the current updated verison of MSN? Mine I think is 7.2 or something. Is that the updated version? Or is it higher? If it's higher, how do I upgrade it?

I'm new at MSN so if anyone can help me out that'd be great! :)

When I registered I had a choice to have either @msn.com or @hotmail.com. I chose @msn.com. There isn't anything more you can do with one than you can the other. I think it all depends on when the person registered as to what address ending they have (i.e. @msn.com, @hotmail.com).

I just updated MSN messenger to the latest version which is 6.1.0207. That was just a few days ago. Usually whenever there is a new version of MSN Messenger out, you'll get a notice when you open Messenger. If not, just go HERE and see if the version has been updated.

Hope that helps!

I think Kristi is right about the .msn vs. .hotmail email addresses. They work exactly the same.

As for getting the current version of "MSN", there are several different parts. MSN internet service is one thing (it's at version 9). MSN Explorer is an other (this is what I think you are talking about). And MSN messenger is an other part. I believe the current version of MSN Explorer is 7.02. You can check what yours is by clicking "More Choices", just under the games icon, and selecting "About MSN Explorer".
