MSN Messager Reminder

I've updated my MSN Messager (v. 6.0) about a week ago, but I keep getting this update reminder that pops up. But I'm wondering if my program that I have, Trillian, is causing it to redundantly pop up every time I log online. It's hard to tell...

Any suggestion/advice?

Here's the lowdown: I installed the SP 1 for IE 6.0 almost a month ago, and I upgraded MSN Messager 6.0 last week.

Wowsers...MSN just put out 6.1?! That was fast!

Yeah, try kristi's suggestion. I was thinking it sounded like those nice popups that Microsoft included with MSN6. They can be disabled, so let me know if that is the trouble.

That's because 6.1 is out for MSN.

First of all the MSN I've downloaded was 6.0 (last week)~
Tried downloading v. 6.1 tonight, and it came up with a choice to repair or to remove 6.0. Thinking that if I remove 6.0, 6.1 would take its place. It didn't work

So, I had to go back & reinstall MSN. When I went back to the MSN site, it says to download 6.1, right? well....it's actually 6.0

hmmmm....what's going on here?! is it 6.1, or 6.0?

I'm very confuzzled....

My friend just said she got that same popup.

The MSN 6.1 link should of worked though. Are there any more windows updates to download?

im getting the lousy popup too. im using trillian too. even yahoo just started sending them today. they are always competing with each other. everytime one gets an update the other does too. weird? more than it meets the eyes dont you think?

I think it is an issue with using the 3rd party programs to access MSN Messenger. I currently use one called Miranda and constantly get the same reminder message. However, I am also using the MSN Messenger 6.0 version just fine without it telling me to update, despite 6.1 being out.

to drfeelgood, forgive me for ignoring you. should have mention my OS right off...so here it is: I have Win ME.

for the other quotes: I have Trillian, and since I've upgraded MSN 6.0, I've been getting pop-up reminders for about 1.5 weeks now. Argh! I wondered...if I take Trillian off, and reinstall it, would it take care of that problem? Just curious.

I had a slightly different issue...

I don't use Messenger, but Windows Messenger is installed, and runs (something to do with outlook?)

I had Windows Messenger version 4.7 installed, and started getting Security Messages indicating that I MUST upgrade the software. I followed the links, and it installed MSN Messenger 6 (instead of Windows Messenger), and it didn't uninstall or terminate Windows Messenger...

SO....I still got the security error message, and couldn't seem to uninstall or disable Windows Messenger 4.7.

Anyway...I finally uninstalled MSN Messenger 6.0, and then installed Windows Messenger 5.0. I think it's working now...

Any comments?

Hey~ just so you know:

Trillian just put out a patch to stop those popups from MSN and Yahoo... it's patch 0.74 E. And it *finally* stopped those crazy pop-ups. Yay!
