  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

MS Outlook has a filters.txt file which holds all the rules for the Junk e-mail and Adult content rules. The idea is that you create rules and this stops spam and suchlike. The only problem is it's rubbish, unless you can be bothered to create loads (and I mean loads) of rules. Are there any websites you can get some decent ready-made rules for the filters.txt file?

cheers!

Andy

Qualcom.com :)

Drop MS Outlook / Outlook express and get somthing else. I use Eudora, and Love it.

As for your real question, sorry cant help you there, I stoped Outlook a few years ago.
I used to have Eudora one time~ that was over 5 years ago....have they improved the client so that it looks/acts like Outlook/OE? Can they send/recieve images? How about the size of emails? I'm still using OE 6, with Mailwasher as my spam bouncer. I'm looking into other email clients, like Thunderbird and such, before I decide on which clients will work for me.

You could use Mozilla Thunderbird, which has some decent filters built in, but my favorite has been the Spambayes plugin for outlook. Google for it, it's awesome and does an excellent job of classifying mail and integrates right into outlook.
Spambayes....is it FREE?

it was rated the worst by pcworld. outlook was the best with 99% of junk mail.
...I hope you're joking. I really am. Outlook couldn't catch spam if it's life depended on it...and it's life does depend on it.

Thunderbird catches 90% of my spam. I've also added smut filters to get rid of nasty message immediately.

Thunderbird does do a kind of crummy job for me, I haven't gone a day yet where all my spam was correctly classified yet. The spambayes plugin did really well when I had it, it caught 99.999% of junk mail after about 5 days of training it. Yes, spambayes is free.
