  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

My grandfather now has an infection in his lungs. Since he has just endured surgery, his surgical wound plus him being elderly, he now has contracted MRSA. As to what that is, I'll just break it down in short. Its an infection that is resistant to antibiotics, its very hard to get rid of, and can be fatal in elderly people especially if they have surgical wounds, are elderly, etc. The doctors told him he had pnemonia, but told the family he didn't, so Im not sure if he does or not. I just know that he has this MRSA. If anyone reading this works at a hospital, you'll know what im talking about with this MRSA. Things like this makes me not trust any doctor or any hospital for that matter. He was doing good at first, but seems like its only went downhill since then. My mom is afraid of him dying, and with what I read about this MRSA, he could. I think he himself is losing hope, and as a family member, that is painful to see. So please pray for him, that he will get rid of this MRSA and any other infections he might have, and fight this and have a full recovery.

Southern Sweetheart,

If it's just MRSA then there are treatments and antibiotics than can be used (vancomycin for instance). I'm not going to lie to you, this is a very serious thing, and unfortunately nosocomial (hospital-acquired) staph infections are common especially during long-term treatment. However it is treatable. I'll be praying for your grandfather and your family.

Lord, help us in our time of need.

MRSA is very treatable- so there's lots of hope! Many people walk around all the time with this stuff colonized (which means it's hanging out, but not causing an infection yet) in their bodies, and don't know it- true, it can cause delayed healing, and can be deadly, but it doesn't have to be, and he may not have gotten it at the hospital... prayers go out to all of you as he recovers.
