  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

"Media vultures and political jackals should not be selecting chairs of committees," Carolyn Parrish wrote to her replacement on the NATO committee.

OTTAWA - Carolyn Parrish, the Liberal MP who last month called Americans "*******s," says she has suffered extreme emotional stress because of the controversy caused by her remarks and blames "media vultures and political jackals" for the impact on her career.

Ms. Parrish, who later joked about the anti-U.S. statement on a national TV talk show, last week wrote a parliamentary colleague complaining she was a victim of people who sought to turn her comments into a media event.

 The recent 'disaster' was a terrible blow to me and my family. The relentless, extreme emotional pressure was, at times, intolerable," Ms. Parrish wrote in a March 20 letter to David Price, the Quebec Liberal MP who this week replaced her as chairman of NATOCanadian Parliamentary Association.

I have a lot of sympathy for her. I have said any number of stupid or ill-advised things when under stress; I would hate to be judged on everything I've said in a moment of anger or frustration, without any credence given to my apologies.

....I would hate to be judged on everything I've said in a moment of anger or frustration, without any credence given to my apologies.

that had happened to me before, with an online friend. I lost my cool once again, said something absolutely stupid in the moment of anger, and she have had enough...saying that she can't trust me anymore. Although I did apologize, she chose not to have anything to do with me after that. Quite painful to go through and it's a HARD lesson to learn!

I'd hate to be judged for being angry, rather that I'd be asked WHY I'm angry; I'm more apt to stop and think, and give a better explaination. To be condemned for the wrongs I did would make me wanna hide, and keep quiet. :( :sigh:

Sowwy, just one of those things, to bring up sad memories of broken friendship/trust.
