The other night I had a dream that my workplace was located on the upper level story of an old indoor mall. The mall has been abandoned for a long time. In my dream we were moving our offices to another area on the lower level. When I got to the office I heard everyone talking about it and getting all their stuff ready to move. Some people were asking, "Should we move our computers?" But no one was getting an answer, or there was no one immediately around like a manager that could have answered us. I chose to pick up my computer and take it down myself. I considered it the most important thing that would need to be moved, even though I didn't know if I was doing the right thing just yet.
I rode the escalator down to the lower level. The security guards were sitting at some desks inside the mall's main front entrance on the lower level. Next (even though I knew this was a big no no) I stepped outside while still carrying my computer. I was just going to look outside and see if my manager was out there so I could ask him something. Fortunately the security people didn't chase after me, thinking that I was stealing the computer. I walked back inside and they just nodded to me. I felt good knowing that they trusted and respected me that much. But I also realized that I was one of the very few people who had chosen to take their computer with them.
Then I walked into the new downstairs offices. Rather than the cubes of the previous office, the new layout looked like a church. There were long pews where we were supposed to sit, and a desk area on the back of the pew in front of us. Apparently, in this new layout, our managers would be in the front standing and "speaking" as we listened to them. I walked up one of the middle aisles and found an open aisle seat down to my left, about three or four rows from the front. I thought, how lucky I am to find the perfect seat. So I sat down to claim it and some girls who were standing and talking in the same row immediately to my left sat down after they saw me sit down.
The end.
