  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

How about really bad movies? Like train wreck movies, movies you can't stop watching even though they are so bad?

"Nothing But Trouble", 5% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The agreed upon worst movie: Ed Wood's "Plan 9 from Outer Space."

Bella Lugosi actually died during the filming.

I just rewatched Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Directed by Ang Lee; starring Michelle Yeoh, Zhang ZiYi, and Chow Yun Fat. Worthy mention: Chen Chang

This film is absolutely stunning. The landscapes, the framing of each scene, the fight choreography. Some websites I've run across think that the fight between Michelle Yeoh and Zhang Ziyi is one of the best ever. While Ziyi's sword is superior, you are never in doubt of Yeoh's supreme skill. To pull that off is simply masterful.

All of the four principle characters are very expressive actors. Their performances are restrained, but emotions ripple across their faces.

I cannot recommend this highly enough.

For those that find "wire fu" off putting, this may not be for you. Still, you should give it a try. I must admit that it is a little slow getting started, but it is worth it.

^Re: Crouching Tiger.

But did the girl survive or die, what jumping off the bridge? IMO she survived.
That's one of the nice things about the film ... it's for you to decide. I recommend spoilers for that kind of thing, BTW.

How about really bad movies?
About 65 million years ago, an asteroid struck Earth nearly wiping out all life, but that disaster pales in comparison to the disaster which is The Room by Tommy Wiseau.

Another bad movie on the level of an asteroid strike, Eraserhead by David Lynch.
Aww, I found it very inspirational.
It’s about...I have no clue someone tell me.
It's about...an hour and a half long. That's all I can tell you. :)

I can tolerate a well done rom-com, such as When Harry Met Sally, but I wouldn't choose them. I like westerns like Sergio Leone. I enjoy over top films like Sin City and Kill Bill.
Have you seen Rules of Attraction? It seems like just another dumb rom-com starring James van der Beek, but it's actually really good.

I agree, way too much wire-fu in that flick. For anyone who hates wire-fu like I do, check out Ong-Bak or The Raid. They're like porn, but with martial arts instead of sex. Just enough story to tie fight scenes together.

For a decent story and martial arts, without the wire-fu, Unleashed was really good.

I saw The Disaster Artist, it was pretty darn good. I thought James Franco had to have been kind of hamming it up in his portrayal of Tommy, but then they showed clips of the actual Tommy Wiseau and he was spot on. Tommy just is hammy in real life. Just like when I saw Johnny Depp play Hunter S. Thompson in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Some people really are like that.

I own a copy of Ong Bak. Amazing. I haven't seen the other two.

I've never seen it.
I wouldn't mention it if it was just another romCom along the lines of "You've Got Mail" or "Fools Rush In" or some other similar tripe. It's actually original. The following isn't really a spoiler, more of an Easter Egg, but I'll hide it anyways since I know I like to go into a movie knowing jack-squat about it. But it might make it more intriguing.

It's based on a book by the same name. The main character is the kid brother of Patrick Bateman, the protagonist from American Psycho.

Interesting spoiler. I might have to watch it. I'll talk my wife into it so I can blame it on her. ;)
