Well allow me to elaborate further -

I've been pretty lost in life and people tell me that god can show me guidance. So I look through my phone book to see if I can find god in there - but no dice, can't find god's phone number in there.

I asked my friend if he knew any way to get ahold of him to guide me through life and he told me that I can contact him through prayer. I ask myself "what's a prayer" so I look it up online. I found a tutorial on praying but upon praying asking god to "guide me through life" he didn't show up to help me.

It was at this point I decided that everyone must be playing some sort of prank on me telling me of a being known as god because I cannot, for the life of me, find him anywhere.

This is how I came to the conclusion that god does not exist.

He never said He would be in the phone book. Where did He say people could find Him? You know the source of information on Him -- did you check for guidance there?

Think seriously, whether you are sure He didn't show up to guide you. Look back and see if you are taking credit for a few things you didn't generate on your own.

I am sorry you have not met God first hand face to face for that is the way you should meet him and the exact way He has established for you to know him. At this time (the Christian Dispensation) all people are to meet God one on one face to face living inside true Christians. The problem is there are just not many true Christians running around (you would find more in communist China at this time (my opinion).

What is your life changing need to find God at this time and how would it make a real difference in your life?

I hope you do not mind, but i will be drawing some paralles to illustrate a foolish man's point.

I've been pretty lost in life and people tell me that god can show me guidance. So I look through my phone book to see if I can find god in there - but no dice, can't find god's phone number in there.

I have checked and President GW Bush's personal number isn't listed in the phone book either.

I asked my friend if he knew any way to get ahold of him to guide me through life and he told me that I can contact him through prayer. I ask myself "what's a prayer" so I look it up online. I found a tutorial on praying but upon praying asking god to "guide me through life" he didn't show up to help me.

I invited the President to my wedding, sent Him a proper wedding invitation and everything, he did not come. Some staffer sent a polite refusal postcard with a stamped signature. Needless to say He did not show up. I could have really used a pep talk from the president, and i would have been Glad to listen to any advise he could give me on starting my life, but no dice..

It was at this point I decided that everyone must be playing some sort of prank on me telling me of a being known as god because I cannot, for the life of me, find him anywhere.

Next (about 3 years later) we went to see a buddy of mine in DC who lives and "works" there. He helped us schedule a walk through tour of the white house (Where the president supposedly works and lives.) But that day "he" just so happen not to be there... I believe someone must be playing a prank on me.. Because the only place i see him is on TV and the internet.. I tried contacting him via personal correspondence, He's not listed in the phone book, and i even went to his house and apparently i just missed him.. I can find him anywhere :/

So by using this model we must conclude that the president does not exist that's a bit disappointing..

Maybe, just maybe the reason the president did not come to my wedding, or maybe the president did not wait to see me when my guided tour came through is perhaps (I'm going out on a limb here) is because He does not know/have a relationship with me...

Now if we take that principle and apply it to your God situation perhaps the same holds true... Maybe just Maybe the reason you can't find God is because He does not know/have a personal relationship with you.

Lol! Perhaps you and gabe are correct. If I do not get personal confirmation from that person/deity then they must not exist..

You would think if the government went though such trouble as installing a hologram, that they would have upgraded and gotten one with a better speech sub routine.

Maybe that is why Obama does such a good job from the podium..

Hello Nabe,

It really sounds like you have concluded God doesn’t exist because you cant find His phone number, and because you have found prayer ineffective from which a method that you learned online.

We aren’t instructed in our Christian walk to pray in a way that man created, but in a way Jesus teaches in the bible. So, when you find that Gods number is marked unlisted in the phone book, and you need an effective way to pray, you can find how to reach Him there.

Christians pray everyday, for many things, even for guidance, and we don’t always see results. We don’t give up on Him, and conclude Hes not there because we don’t get what we want, but have faith and patience, and understand that God is there, and has promised to meet our needs.

The guide for a Christian walk is Gods word, it teaches you everything that you need to know. God has already given this to you. It’s up to you how you chose to apply it to your life. If you chose to, you will see the results you are seeking. If not, you can’t accuse Him for not existing because He doesn’t act on your behalf in an instant, especially when what you have asked Him for is already present. I will be praying for you.
