  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Prayer warriors - please pray for one of my dearest friends. She and her fiance were in a motorcycle accident and are very banged up, but thankfully, they are alive. A car pulled out in front of them and hit them and threw them off of the bike. Her fiance was okay...has a few bruises and a dislocated shoulder, but she got the brunt of it. She has a severe concussion, 16 staples in her head, some sprains, strains and bruises, but all of her organs were undamaged. She is in a great deal of pain and has to be watched very closely. She is on a lot of medication, which is good because it is making her sleep, but please just keep her in your prayers and ask God to keep His arms around her. Her fiance is with her tonight and I will be with her tomorrow - pray for him as well. He's pretty sore and banged up as well, and aside from taking care of her, he is trying to work as well. Thanks so much...will update when I can...

Heavenly Father,

We thank you for the blessing that these two people have in being alive Lord. You know the plans You have for them. Father I pray for quick healing Lord. Place Your healing hand upon both of these people. Take the pain away. Lord bless them abundantly with friends and family around them.

We pray this in Jesus Name
Amen

Thanks everyone for your prayers. I spoke with them just a few minutes ago. Ray is back at work, although quite uncomfortable. Sheryl was up and moving around (with a lot of help), but she is in a great deal of pain, which is to be expected. The medication that they have her on for pain is making her feel pretty yucky on top of things. I will be heading over there in just a little while to help her this evening so that Ray can hopefully get some rest himself. They both asked me to thank you for the prayers!

Keep praying!!! I will update when I can...

Hi JOYful!  At one point in time, the Dr. had to switch my pain medication because it was making me hurl.  If it's making her sick, maybe she should call the Doc and have him/her switch it?

Just a suggestion :)

I'm glad that they're doing better, even if your friend is in a lot of pain.  They're here and they'll heal.  Will continue to {{{pray}}}

Thanks for your prayers, guys. Sheryl is doing much better...she's still very sore, but she is definitely improving. She has 18 staples in the back of her head and when I put the antibiotic medication on the wound today, it looked so much better than it has been looking. The "normal" color is coming back and it doesn't look so raw. It is definitely healing nicely. She was able to go up the stairs of her house this afternoon, which was a great answer to prayer. She is still sore and moving around hurts a lot, but she is trying to obey her doctor and move as much as possible to keep her muscles working. She thinks she is ready to stay alone now, but we aren't letting her just yet. Someone will be with her 'round the clock at least through tomorrow night, and we will kind of play it by ear then. Ray is doing better as well. He is covered in bruises and he can't lift his arm very high due to the dislocated shoulder/elbow, but he says that he really feels so much better. He still hasn't been able to see his bike, but he felt pretty confident that the insurance company would declare it a total loss.

Oh, and BF - the medication isn't really making her feel like she wants to hurl, but it is making her very lethargic and weak feeling and she wants to be up moving around as much as possible to work the muscles that are getting stiff. She's struggling to keep herself awake long enough to do anything. It is also giving her a very dry mouth. I guess all of that is typical with a lot of medicine, but we are just praying for her to tolerate it a little better and for her strength to not let the side effects hinder her healing process.

Thanks again for your prayers everyone. Ray and Sheryl both have said that they can feel everyone's prayers.

KTF, I am so sorry to hear about your friend's brother. What a tragedy.

And you are right - we are VERY grateful they are alive. They both could have been taken from us in a matter of seconds, but God chose to spare their lives. I told Sheryl last night while Ray had gone into his shop for a few hours that I knew that they were both hurt and sore, but I was thanking God for every bump, bruise, cut, scrape and staple and every other injury that they have, because it meant that they were alive. Of course, motorcycle days are over for them!!!

Ray is doing remarkably well. He still can't lift his arm very well, but he is seeing improvement in that daily. Yesterday was a pretty bad day on Sheryl. She has been doing really well and wanted to go to a local restaraunt for breakfast yesterday morning. She was moving much better and acted like she felt better than she has since the accident, so we took her. Unfortunately, she was just too weak for it. She got very dizzy and sweaty in the restaraunt and had to lie down in the booth. We got some cold compresses for her and she came around, but was still very dizzy. We took her home immediately, but she had to keep her eyes closed the whole way because even the slightest movement would make her dizzy. We called the doctor who said that after a head injury like hers, all of this was normal and was to be expected, but for her to make an appointment with her regular doctor to get something for the vertigo because her equilibrium has been affected so much. She was hoping to go back to work today (which we have been trying to talk her out of since she first mentioned it), but she realized yesterday for herself that she just isnt' up to it yet. We called and she spoke with her boss who told her that he did not want her back in the office at all this week, just to stay at home and rest and they would discuss next week as time got closer. She was doing much better last night, but was back to just lying in the bed, or sitting in the recliner. The more she moves around, the dizzier she gets. Continue praying, folks! She's definitely improving, but not fast enough in her mind.

Thanks everyone!!!
