  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I need to figure out how to motivate myself to write. I have some book ideas that I think could turn out really good, but for some reason I can't find it in myself to actually sit down and begin fully fleshing them out and start writing. I don't even end up thinking about working on them when I'm home and able to write, tho the few times I do I just end up doing something else. I need some way of motivating myself to get going on this. Help!

Try to do something visual that holds you in the story. Find a desktop image that reminds you of your vision for it, or draw a picture and keep it at your desk.

Make sure that you have enough times in the day where you don't have input, but are allowed to think undistracted. It's easy to load up on "valuable" input like news and informative TV shows, and lose your self.

Think of it as a fast, or coinciding with the sabbath rest concept. It's human to get distracted or get brain overload, so don't be too hard on yourself.

"I don't even end up thinking about working on them when I'm home and able to write."

That seems normal to me. I tend to focus when something is in front of me, and set aside everything else. If you do that too, it could mean that when you're with your family, you're focusing on them; when you're at work, you're focused on your job. To get to the point of focusing on your projects, you'll need to get them in your face.

Tell yourself whatever comes out from your writing...that you will approve it.

I keep reminding myself the only critic I have is myself.
