Motion sickness.

Does anyone else get motion sickness from games like Doom, Quake and other FPSs?

I don't get it when I am playing but if I sit and watch someone else that is playing an FP game it makes me dizzy and gives me headaches.

Well, when Doom first came out, I played it with my buddies at work for about 14 hours straight, with no food-just coffee-and felt dizzy and disoriented. Didn't upchuck, though.

i only became sick from FPS games when i am not playing and only watching a friend play.

I get motion sickness when playing pseudo-3d games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom or Quake, but I don't have a problem with modern games. I'm not sure why that distinction exists for me.

When Doom first came out and I played it, I got dizzy. Doom was one of the first games to really have that kind of movement, so lots of people got motion sickness then. Some people still do.

I do on run & gun games like Halo and Wolfenstein but I don't when playing more realistic shooters like Ghost Recon. I guess it's because I'm concentrating more on really looking around and not moving as sporadically.

The first big 3D game I got into was Bond 007, and when we had 4 players on the same TV, my head would be humming with tension, from looking at all four sections to constantly know where everyone is at.

But other than that, nothing.

Nope never had motion sickness on any of those games. Only one i had is on half life 2 when you're in a vehicle.

Try Descent. You can fly upside-down, sideways, diagonal, and all over the place. If you don't have auto-leveling on you could completely lose orientation in the mines. Definitely turns your stomach if you're not used to it.

Watching people play Burnout 3 on my friends giant projection screen makes me want to (as my Indian doctor says) "womit"

i think what does it for me is when there is a lot of fast motion from side to side or up and down. i mean with FPS games like Ghost Recon its not even an issue. its the games like doom or halo or unreal championship, games that are fast paced from the get go that really affect me that way.

Heck, I get sick off Crazy Taxi...I'm not sure I want to try any FPS games! (Oh, wait, that's more likely because my computer hasn't enough RAM for them...)

FPS games get me very motion sick. Halo 2 most recently I played on the XBox, and yikes I needed some dramamine.

usually never get it...but i remember getting it from descent and Half Life 2...other fps didn't make me wanna puke
