Mosquito bites and itching

Does anyone know of something that really kills the itch caused by bug bites? We are having a bad mosquito season.

Surprisingly, ammonia works wonders. Spray on a little Windex, stops itching for hours. Sounds silly I know, but it really does work.

Stick deoderant really works. When my mother told me this, I thought she was nuts, but it actually works.

Antihistamines like diphenhydramine (Benadryl) are what you really need. The itchiness is from the histamine release caused by the toxins and anti-coagulants the misquito injects into you before it sucks your blood.

Since there is an open wound after the bite, I wouldn't recommend anything else.

Also, a cold compress will inhibit the histamine release as well.

I was going to suggest an antihisamine cream as well/Benadryl Itch Stopping Cream. I bought a tube at the Dollar General store with the same ingred. It is called Allergy Cream 2% & was only $2 and worked really good. I want to try the Windex & stick deoderant !!!

Any anti-itch cream, whether it's Benadryl or a generic, usually helps.
