That's funny becasue somewhere else I could have sworn you were trying to tell me not to participate in discussion. I'm just pointing out that your debate tactics are fundamentally dishonest.archaeologist said:wow! now you are a moderator---
what that response demonstrates is that such beliefs are a matter of convenience and people refuse to deal with the reality of what God's word is sayig.
Lets see...you pick one phrase and ignore the rest---typical---
i said be honest.
You should really stop condemning people for figurative intepretations when you can't even recognise allegory in the book of Revelation.Originally Posted by Assyrian
You think a city dressed as a bride isn't allegorical? Rev 21:2 And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 1 phrase
I see you leave out the bit about the throne of the lamb, Rev 22:3 No longer will there be anything accursed, but the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and his servants will worship him.
and the nations being healed by leaves. Rev 22:2 through the middle of the street of the city; also, on either side of the river, the tree of life with its twelve kinds of fruit, yielding its fruit each month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. Another 2 phrases, but as you excluded these verses from the references you quoted when you tried to pick passages in Revelation that weren't allegorical, we will leave them out.
You still have Jesus Christ being two Greek letters, Rev 22:13I am the Alpha and the Omega 2nd phrase
having to do our laundry before we enter the city, Rev 22:14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life and that they may enter the city by the gates. 3rd phrase
the no dogs allowed sign on the gates, Rev 22:15 Outside are the dogs 4th phrase
Jesus being a tree root, Rev 22:16"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to testify to you about these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David 5th phrase
as well as the planet Venus, the bright morning star." 6th phrase
and the bride (that's the city isn't it?) offering people free drinks of 'the water of life'. That would be literal water would it? Rev 22:17 The Spirit and the Bride say, "Come." And let the one who hears say, "Come." And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. 7th phrase
So the danger is, if we don't accept Genesis literally, we might not accept that all this allegory in Revelation is literal too?
And tell me archie, you do believe God is everywhere don't you? You know omnipresence and all that. Do you really think 'following God' is literal?
false accusation ignored
so in your mind, in revelation, what is God a symbol of? the final judgement? the Holy Spirit? and so on
are you saying that what God said in revelations is not what is going to take place? (granted Joohn did not have the vocabularly to describe certain things he saw, after all he was shown the future and ancient greek was not fully versed in modern words)
that there will be no justice for believers? that the devil and his followers will not go to the lake of fire?
please be honest about what you believe
Who were you quoting?
Yourself
people are put in prison for stalking. stop hounding my replies.
this is what i asked for --- your opinion and what did i get, tap dancing.
give me your opinion on the verses stated, i was not leaving anything out on purpose but just randomly chose some to get a fix on what you are thinking about what is or isn't allegorical.
can you do that and be honest at the same time? be straight forward.
Which as I have dealt with quite thoroughly, pointing out seven different allegorical and metaphorical figures in just the two passages you mentioned. Of course you accuse us of tap dancing but you utterly avoided dealing with the allegory I pointed out. Nice one archie.nice way to sweep away the truths of the Bible. by the way, do youy think the passages about those believing and following God and get to be with Him forever is allegorical?
rev. 21: 1-4
or
rev. 22:7-17
Now you accuse us of tap dancing for thoroughly answering your first question instead of your second question? I would have thought in an honest debate, you would actually deal with the answers we give, and if a second question you asked got missed along the way you could bring it up again. But claiming our not answering your second question is tap dancing, when you haven't responded to our answers to your first question, isn't that, well, tap dancing?so in your mind, in revelation, what is God a symbol of? the final judgement? the Holy Spirit? and so on

there are the questions you have not dealt with. plus:
'i saw a new heaven and a new earth'
'for the first heaven and earth had passed away'
'and there was no more sea'
'from God'
shall i continue? i also asked

and so on. not one word about what you believe about those passages. yes, you tapped danced.
Talk about honesty. I answered your first question in which you asked if I believed these passages were allegorical:[QUOTEso in your mind, in revelation, what is God a symbol of? the final judgement? the Holy Spirit? and so on

You complain about my answer to you first question listing all the metaphor and allegory in these passages, because I did not answer the 'please be honest about what you believe' you asked in your second question.
