More Shorties!

When one looks at the characters in CFRPG, 9 out of 10 will either be elves or humans. The other 1 will be some crazy new race. What is with the complete lack of the shorter races? Dwarves, gnomes and halflings are almost non-existant. Why do people have an aversion to them?

Humans suck. Why would you want to play as what you are? They are unremarkable, and have horribly short lifespans. In my humble opinion, the only good humans are magical humans, at least then you get some variety.

Elves suck. They are scrawny little enfeminant dorks. Seriously. Honestly, how many of you thought Legolas was a woman when you first saw him? And look, they're really just a 'cooler' version of humans. They have some nice swords and bows. They don't have BO or get dirty. An elf is just a living porcelian doll! I hate elves so much I made an elf-hunter for a character!!!!

Dwarves are great. They are little bags of pure muscle! They slash goblin head like margerine with their axes, and crush trolls like pumpkins with their hammers! Buy a dwarf today! (rings of ultimate power not included)

Gnomes are great. They are funny, intelligent little misfits. Take Jan Jansen of Baldur's Gate fame for example. He built his own dry-clean-only suit of armor, a stun-gun, goggles which would allow him to see invisble creatures, and robo-gloves for stealing, while still having time to be both a skilled mage and theif! A gnome can live much longer than an elf, and are great story-tellers and theives. 100% compatible with their cousins, the dwarves. Adopt your own gnome!

Halflings are great. Forget the notion of fat, hairy-footed wimps. A halfling is just a miniture human. Good for getting into those tight spaces. Get a halfling!

Mega, save the whole "humans suck" thing, I agree with you 100%! Dwarves rock, but I only made one dwarf char, I probably ought to use him again sometime, as that RP died. As for Legolas looking like a woman, well... he doesnt look like a man, thats for sure. Actually, I saw a cartoon version of LOTR a while back, and Legolas looked like my ex-girlfriend......

Dont forget orcs! I must be like, one of the only people on this forum to have used an orc/orcman.

My first character was an orc by the name of Sir Feldspar. I have seen others use them... since I'm defending the shorter races, a lumbering green thing didn't seem apropriate to include.

I just said looked like, not that he could necessarily pass for her. Only his hair was longer. But he had about the same shoulders, about the same height, maybe a bit taller than her(she was almost as tall as me.) and he was about as thin as her. No, thin women are not my personal preference, just for the record, and that is not why we stopped dating, just for the record. Wait, nevermind, maybe he could pass for her, I would say that the other way around was possible too, but that would be insulting her... But enough about that...

And I haven't found an rpg where I could use lil ppl yet. In the LOTR rpgs and such I just used old chars who happened to be human. And I like humans, thank you very much (bein one myself )

I agree with you totally! Dwarves rock! And I admit...I thought Legolas was a girl at first.... Lessien, I agree with ya except I do not like the guy who plays Legolas....I like the character Legolas though! (I know...I'm crazy) I currently do not have a char who is an elf and do not ever plan to get one...humans and dwarves are much more interesting (not to mention hobbits....)) Forgive me, I'm rambling....

Personally, I hate Orlando Bloom too, but the character of Legolas is the only elf I ever really liked. The book version of him; Orlando killed Legolas in the movies.... Just because Legolas and Orlando were both pretty boys, doesnt mean that he was good enough to play the part. They also killed Elrond too, I mean, he was the kindly wise old man for the most part in the books. In the movies he was the mean old father-in-law who hated men. Gimli ROCKED!!! Its a shame he was more for comic relief in the movies though. I mean, he did a good job of it, and it really was always Gimli and Legs giving the comedy in the books. However, I think they mafe Gimli too comical and not enough "bad uh... booty... dwarf". He beheaded like, 50 orcs in the war, and that was just the number he beheaded! Any of you see the extended version of Two Towers? If not, there is a scene in which, right after Helms Deep, Legs and Gimli meet up to tally the final count. Gimli got 35, and Legs got 34, or something like that. Gimli was sitting on an Uruk's corpse as he announced his kill tally, but Legs pulls out his bow and shoots an arrow right between Gimli's legs, just barely missing him. He says, "35." and Gimli shouts out, "What?! It was already dead!" Legs says, "It was twitching." Gimlie pulls the handle of his axe, revealing the part of the uruk's head that had the axe blade in it, and shouts, "Yeah, it was twitching because I already had me axe in its face!!!" That part rocked, go Gimli!

I agree with you about Elrond, but not Legolas. I like Orlando Bloom, and I think he did a great job as Legolas. But, yeah, they totally killed Elrond.

Yup, Dave, I agree with you exactly!!!!! Orlando Bloom could have done a lot better job with Legolas. But when I first read the books and then saw the movies, I was horrified about how some of the actors completly massacred the characters!!!!!!

Hobbits are so cool! I simply do not use them as my chars because of difficulties. Hieghth is a problem, as most of char's demand tallness.

And another thing, dwarves like ale entirely too much. You are not a good fighter when you are drunk!

I like Legolas in the book. They butchered him in the movie. Sam is my my favorite char, (go hobbits!) and always will be. They portray him perfectly in the movies, unlike a certain elf. I think the reason Legolas(aka Orlando Bloom) is so popular is because all the girls are swooning over Orlando. *rolls eyes* Anyway, I couls argue the hobbits' point all day, but will not.

Yes, that is a major reason that most of us guys absolutely LOATHE him, but that is just 'cause we're jealous. Although, I still dont like his acting as Legolas. He was the same in Pirates of the Carribean, but that wasnt a character based off of someone from a book. I also think Aragorn was a bit too impersonal.

I like using big guys! Take it from a proffessional big guy, it is fun to throw your weight around when people tick you off. Using someone like Burzghash is more familiar to me, nad I really wouldnt know how to be a hobbit or something unless I spent some time around a bunch of tall bodybuilders. As for a dwarf, I could do that. When I go to my best friend's place for a week, I go from being tallest in the family(actually, I am about even with my dad) to being the shortest guy around, but my friend is a bit lanky, so I never have any trouble like that. Never go to a pool party with us, hehehehehehe.

I tried a Hobbit once. I jsut couldn't do it. I've never know what its like to be short (at least with my peers) so the idea is just too strange.
And no dwarves for me cause drawf women are never seen

For me, I rather like having a short char 'cause in real life I tower over everyone, even the boys, so I like to imagine what it would it be like to be short.lol. To me, Legolas is only moderatly cute cause I like guys with dark hair better. (hehehe) Anyway, why are we having this incredibly stupid discussion anway? Go hobbits!
