  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

More questions sorry.

Sorry I have a few more questions about sin and morals and stuff. Any answers you have if they could be backed up using scripture that'd be cool too. Opinions accepted as well but being that I find the bible to be the true word of God I like to see scripture whenever possible.

Some may be considered R or X rated because of the wording I use but I don't mean it to be dirty or pornographic

Is it a sin to enjoy sex? Lots of Christians say this but nobody I've talked to can back it up with scripture but usually they say "I know its in there."
Is it sinful or immoral to use birth control of any form?
Is it immoral for a man to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] anywhere that is not inside of a woman?
Is it immoral to shave the hair off of our genitalia?
Is it immoral or sinful to get a vasectomy or tubal litigation?
Are the 7 deadly sins mentioned in the bible anywhere? My husband was looking for them outside of the 10 commandments and coudln't find them. If they are in the bible could someone tell us where so we can find them ourselves?
Is it sinful to look at nude pictures even if they are of your spouse? We were wondering this because a long time ago before I got saved and before I even started believing there was a God I took nude photographs (I'm ashamed) my husband still has them and I want to delete them but there's an ongoing debate between the two of us on whether or not we should keep them. Conflicting feelings and such. I say we should delete them he says we should keep them because he still likes them and its looking at me and not someone else so it can be wrong.

Edit: Anything you can back up with scripture much appreciated. If you cannot but still have an opinion please share and explain. :)

The only one of those issues that you should be cautious with is birth control. Some types can be abortive in some instances. Of course, you will get a variety of different opinions about that.

Sex is meant to be enjoyed between a husband and wife and many of us here will proudly tell you how much we appreciate that special gift God gave us. ;) :sorry:

I don't know why not, except that they decrease the fun. ^_^

It's really more of what you and your husband find acceptable for you. You should ask your OB-GYN how each type works and let him or her know what your specifically concerned about. The more informed you are, the easier it is for you to make your own choice about it.

Wonderful attitude, and great questions.
It's really refreshing having you here!

Is it a sin to enjoy sex? Lots of Christians say this but nobody I've talked to can back it up with scripture but usually they say "I know its in there."
God created sex to be enjoyed by husband and wife. So within the confines of marriage it is absolutely for our enjoyment, and not a sin. In fact, there's a whole book of the Bible devoted to it.

Is it sinful or immoral to use birth control of any form?
In general no. But as has been mentioned, there are some kinds that are immoral because they work by causing an abortion. Those include the kinds that are inserted such as IUD's and many of the hormone pills that are prescribed these days.

Is it immoral for a man to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] anywhere that is not inside of a woman?
Only if the motive is sinful. The act itself is not moral or immoral.
The passage used to say this is sinful is that of Onan. But if you read the context of the passage you'll quickly see that the reason he angered God was because of his selfish, greedy, evil heart. By denying Tamar a child he dishonored her and disobeyed God.

Is it immoral to shave the hair off of our genitalia?
Nope

Is it immoral or sinful to get a vasectomy or tubal litigation?
Again, only if it's for sinful reasons, like to spite your spouse or something. The act itself is not moral or immoral.

Are the 7 deadly sins mentioned in the bible anywhere? My husband was looking for them outside of the 10 commandments and coudln't find them. If they are in the bible could someone tell us where so we can find them ourselves?
Well each sin is mentioned in the Bible, but they're not listed specifically as "the seven deadly sins". That was constructed by early church leaders.

That is a matter of conscience. If you are genuinely uncomfortable with having them, then it's better to get rid of them. When in doubt, don't violate your conscience, even if you're not yet sure what Scripture says about the issue. It's always better to be safe. But for husband and wife to enjoy naked pictures of each other is not a sin. Personally I'd be worried someone else might find them one day, but that's just me! So you two will need to decide that for yourselves.

About the vasectomy....Leveticus 19:28 'Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD'

A vasectomy is cutting your body (and since you do it to prevent life, i guess you could say its "cutting your body for the dead")

Just my own opinions, and I won't try to argue for them:

Is it a sin to enjoy sex? Lots of Christians say this but nobody I've talked to can back it up with scripture but usually they say "I know its in there."
No! God likes sex, He invented it as a blessing to us, and not just for the function of procreation. More like, it's sinful not to enjoy it. With one's spouse of course.

I think I could find scriptures for this, but I'd have to research it.

Is it sinful or immoral to use birth control of any form?
No.

Is it immoral for a man to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] anywhere that is not inside of a woman?
No. Well, it was in the case of Onan, because God had commanded him to get a particular woman pregnant, and he was being disobedient.

Is it immoral to shave the hair off of our genitalia?
No.

Is it immoral or sinful to get a vasectomy or tubal litigation?
No.

Are the 7 deadly sins mentioned in the bible anywhere? My husband was looking for them outside of the 10 commandments and coudln't find them. If they are in the bible could someone tell us where so we can find them ourselves?
They're not in the Bible. They're a Catholic Church tradition, and some others find them useful. C.S. Lewis (who was Anglican) discusses them at some length, though I forget exactly where.

Is it sinful to look at nude pictures even if they are of your spouse?
No, definitely not of your spouse. God wants you to enjoy the beauty of your spouse's body. My scripture citation for this is the Song of Solomon, the entire book.

P.S.: I wrote this before reading anyone else's answers. But I'm pleased to see Des and I are pretty much on the same page. :D

NO it is not sinful, God told Adam and Eve to "Go forth and multiply" because He wanted them, and us to have kids, He made the process enjoyable, same with eating, it is a good thing, just like eating we can focus to much on it and twist it into something sinful but it is a good thing in itself
Is it sinful or immoral to use birth control of any form?
The Catholic Church (and all denominations before the 1930's) thinks so, sex is a unitive act, making a real bond between the husband and wife, the use of a contraceptive closes that act to new life and that willful closing the door on the possiblility of new life gets in the way of the unitive aspect. Also it seperates the act from the purpose, sex is not just about being enjoyable but is how new life comes
Is it immoral for a man to [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] anywhere that is not inside of a woman?
i dunno, maybe??? sorry my answer is so vague, nothing wrong with foreplay and if you are having sex there should be [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] inside the wife, but if before or after that he [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] agian... well I do not think that would be a problem but I do not know... lets just say that is ok
Is it immoral to shave the hair off of our genitalia?
sure, why would it not be ok?
Is it immoral or sinful to get a vasectomy or tubal litigation?
yes it is immoral, it is a form of birth control, and i mean, it is kinda a major operation, well not like brain surgery major but anything where they knock you out kinda worrys me, never know if they will give you too much and kill you
Are the 7 deadly sins mentioned in the bible anywhere? My husband was looking for them outside of the 10 commandments and coudln't find them. If they are in the bible could someone tell us where so we can find them ourselves?
they are a list of things that lead to sin, each one of them is in the Bible and there is a nice thread in the Pentacostal subforum about the 7 deadly sins http://christianforums.com/showthread.php?t=7290828

as for the pictures of yourself, I do not think that is sinful, but if it bothers you then he should probably get rid of them, hey you can always make more

Nothing personal, but I felt embarassed just reading these questions.

I apologize. Not all these questions are about me personally just about what I've heard. The only one that really personally relates to me is the one about the pictures.

Oooh those 7 deadly sins I've fallen into one of the subdivisions like all the time. Does caressing or heavy petting refer to the type of "petting" a person does with their spouse before sexual intercourse or just throughout the day as a loving reminder...how do I explain that question?

I don't know how to prevent myself from committing sin all the time. I'd love to wake up one day and spend the whole day and just never commit another sin again. I know its impossible but wouldn't that be nice?

None of us are incapable of not sinning and all sins are deadly by definition. That's why we need Jesus. ;)

Why would petting your spouse at any time be wrong, unless you're in public, of course?

LOL okay I just get confused the sins listed are kind of vague. So we're not incapable of sinning but all of those I fall into daily. Well not abortion and murder or blasphemy but use of foul language I slip sometimes and obscene gestures. I sometimes forget obscene gestures are no better and when I don't have the words for my husband I flip him off. I also slip into the habit of lying sometimes too. So although its not impossible I guess its just so easy to sin....
