Not that my opinion means much...

I'm glad that WELS\ELS doesn't have to deal with this issue. This is sounds like two teenagers (boyfriend\girlfriend) asking their pastor ... "How far is too far ?".

There's a simple answer ... just don't go there. Meaning: it's better to don't go down the path that would make it easier for Satan to blur things than to do something just because you can.

[ The Believer’s Freedom ] “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is beneficial. “Everything is permissible”—but not everything is constructive."

No offense to the smart people, but sometimes intelligence complicates things when it's not necessary. Just how constructive is this for a church body to deal with a situation (that is easily avoidable) that creates more questions and doubts than Jesus' greater desire ... complete unity among believers.
