The video reveals many problems with Brigham's belief in what Mormons now call the Adam-God theory.

I own it too. It is my theory that the writer dozed off between "About whom holy men have written and spoken --" and "HE is our FATHER and our GOD, and the only God with whom we have to do." that is why there is a "--" there. He probably forgot to find out what he missed and put include it in the text. The church leadership does not teach or accept the Adam God theory.Brigham Young on the Heavenly Father
A SERMON DELIVERED BY PRESIDENT BRIGHAM YOUNG, IN THE TABERNACLE, GREAT SALT LAKE CITY, APRIL 9, 1852
Now hear it, O inhabitants of the earth, Jew and Gentile, Saint and sinner! When our father Adam came into the garden of Eden, he came into it with a celestial body, and brought Eve, one of his wives, with him. He helped to make and organize this world. He is MICHAEL, the Archangel, the ANCIENT OF DAYS! About whom holy men have written and spoken -- HE is our FATHER and our GOD, and the only God with whom we have to do. Every man upon the earth, professing Christians or non-professing, must hear it, and will know it sooner or later. They came here, organized the raw material, and arranged in their order the herbs of the field, the trees, the apple, the peach, the plum, the pear, and every other fruit that is desirable and good for man; the seed was brought from another sphere, and planted in this earth. The thistle, the thorn, the brier, and the obnoxious weed did not appear until after the earth was cursed.

Yes, I own the entire set.
Brigham Young knew that Adam spoke to God in the garden of Eden. It is obvious that part of Brigham Young's speech is missing from this text. This is what you've come to... making excuses about dozing off???![]()
Reference needed. If it was so obvious, and the Bible was so perfect, other church leaders wouldn't have believed Brigham Young, and it wouldn't have still been believed for decades afterward.
Reference for what?Reference needed.

When I can't back up what I say I usually use the term "I believe"That isn't a quote from another site. The fact was stored in my brain. So if you really want to know, do some research.

Like I said, "I don't watch these types of videos as I don't want to popularize them. People like to add a lot of their own precepts to them. If someone has a point to make let them just say it."Good for you! I can back it up, but my internet service was giving me fits at that time. However, if you really wanted to know you would have researched it by now.
The information and sources are in the video.
Well for one thing I trust the Bible:It must be great to have a "prophet, seer, and revelator" who you can trust to do all that revelating and thinking for you and yet still completely disregard whenever said revelations with time make your religion seem silly (this), racist (priesthood ban on black people), anti-gay (the policy against baptizing the children of parents in gay relationships), etc.
Which of God's chosen prophets' revelations will you get to say isn't doctrine tomorrow? Or maybe they themselves will say so subsequently after first claiming that it was a revelation (saving pathetic apologists the effort), like they did with the gay one...Yep, 'continuing revelation' is clearly where it's at! No gigantic, obvious holes in this system!
Maybe you guys can update your famous children's song "Follow the Prophet" in light of this..."Follow the prophet! He knows the way! Unless he doesn't! You'll have to wait for the next prophet or maybe the one after him or the one after him to be told what the way actually is! And then that'll change later on, too!"
Or you could write an entirely new version that is more accurate: "Follow the copyright date on the manual, because that's the only way we can even keep up with what we're supposedly believing now"
I do not believe that Brigham Young advocated the Adam God theory. I believe His speech was written down wrong in the JOD. The "--" indicates that part of his talk is missing. How do Mormons explain Brigham Young's advocacy of the Adam/God doctrine? How could he be so dangerously wrong and still a legitimate prophet?
