that is what happened to my friend first the big toe then a few more toes then the leg at the knee and a few years later he was dead. If they are cutting off a leg there may be kidney and heart problems next.my moms friend has diabetes and she ended up having to have her leg amputated all the way up past her knee
diabetes essentially the insulin causes the blood vessels to slowly fill with calcium till starting with the capillaries in the toes and hands. The smallest blood vessels with the slowest blood flow tend to clog first. Typically the toes go bad first sometimes the fingers and the kidneys and eyes and heart all have small vessels to them but usually the heart goes last. I cannot say how long she has could be a few years or 10-20 years depending on her diet and body but I have heard once they start cutting it is a bad sign.this "gout" my friend has developed started with severe toe pain
