More Cardinals Annouce Support for Gay Unions

Although probably rare, there do exist platonic opposite-sex marriages. People - heterosexual or homosexual, are free to have all the consensual sex they want without being married. I don't see the issue of gay marriage as being about gay sex.

I think the point is that a cardinal in the church should not be condoning what is condemned in scripture.

I don't think it's been demonstrated that the Cardinals have condoned anything that is clearly condemned in Scripture.
