Theres a new scheme which is like Hecs and can be used for theological study. It's a bit complicated for me for the time being, but all is means is you don't have to pay tuition fees and thats a big big help

Also there is a conference for people if you want to get into Moore College.

There are no one from Moore College in this forum as far as I know it. And it make sense if they wern't because of the stringent timetable and community they need to live in ...

If you want I can get you in contact with people of Moore College, I know a lot of them so....lol... I too am planning to go to Moore College as well.

I know a couple who have been through it & me & another from our Church who are interested.

I'm a fairly new Christian, just a one year old bub so I'm in no big hurry. I'm just interested to know more about it especially what I should be preparing for & what I can look forward to.

I guess that the easiest thing to do is speak to an Anglican minister...but probably one who graduated from there within the past 4 or 5 years. The assistant minister at my church is relatively fresh out of there, so I could perhaps ask him for some info to pass on to you. :)

Hey there listener, I am thinking of going there or the Catholic university, which is better in your opinion everyone.
?

Probably their like chalk and cheese - which one you went to would depend on whether you're protestant or catholic, I would expect.

I think the Catholic university's more of a mainstream university than a theological college - depends on what you're wanting to study, I guess :) If it's a theology-based qualification, I'd be more inclined to choose a theological college any day.

Moore college is considered to be one of the hardest Theological Colleges in the world. And the hardest to get into, because you sort of need references from pastors.

Usually the interviews are informative. But at the same time, they'll tell you whether you're suited to ministry.... they don't want priests to burn out.

Theres an MTS program from
http://www.mts.com.au/
Have a look. After you do a 2 yr apprenticeship program, it should be quite easy to get into moore college.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think I'm suited to full time ministry although I wish I were. I don't want that level of responsibility. I was only curious to see if they have easier courses for me to mature as a Christian and who knows maybe some short-term missions in the future.

In that case, I'd suggest you look at the Preliminary Theological Certificate that they offer (see http://www.moore.edu.au/external/correspond/intro.htm for details) Basically you can study 1 or 2 subjects by correspondence per college term and you can choose whether you do exams or not (to get the certificate you need to do the exams. 12 subjects all up - I know a couple of guys at my church who have done subjects from the PTC and they think it is excellent! :)

I certainly know that, Bev... :D Easy to say considering that I'm an Anglican church attendee, I guess ^_^ But when it comes to a time when churchgoers need to be fed with the truth of the Gospel, you need to know that people are suitably equipped and have been taught adequately. :)

I agree with the above post by KristianJ which is why I want to do those courses.

Our asst. minister was telling me it might be a good idea for me to do some PTC courses which he is going to run in a few weeks time. He's a Moore grad, maybe the PTC courses are through Moore as well. Guess I'll find out soon. Thanks for all the replies.

Moore has some correspondence sourses called a preliminary theological certificate (PTC). It's very good and gets you well informed on the bible. The idea of it is to help to train lay people in the church. I think that this would be what you are looking for Listener. Otherwise SMBC runs a similar thing but you have to go to night time lectures.
