  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Well, it's a popular route; and these days you can fly from Manchester as well, I think.
Yeah, Manchester, Birmingham, Luton, etc.
I would fly from Manchester or Birmingham with BA or Virgin.

I have flown to Manchester and so did my wife at a different time; and it's gotten enormous now.
They're constantly upgrading the airports, more and more people go abroad nowadays and this is reflected in aircraft numbers.

I remember when you guys over the Pond simply called the airport at Manchester Ringway, when it was a lot smaller.

Yeah years ago, there is a small airport at Doncaster, can only take a handful of planes.
There are quite a lot of runways in the UK, it's surprising.

Isn't Doncaster the one they are now calling Sheffield City or something? I once looked it all up. Over here, with Canada being so big, air is just about the only lifeline for some communities.

I think Doncaster Airport mainly serves London and Continental charters, right?
Here a lot of the vacation flights are to the US and the Caribbean.
Yeah, it's not an international airport, only can handle smaller aircrafts.

Over here increasingly the concept of airports tends to be Aerotropolis as a business model: just as railroads drove economic growth in the 19th century and freeways drove it in the 20th century, so now airports are a major economic driver in their own right. But I think the British government still regards them somewhat as a cash cow, what with APD duty, which so often drives tourists away.

Very true, they aren't supported enough.

Unfortunately with Britain's arcane planning rules and politicians that seem to regard airports as pumps to suck cash from, the convenience of the travelling public and the long term economic health of regions do not seem to score very highly with British politicians, compared with the situation in some other countries.

It is TONIGHT, September 27, 2015.

The total lunar eclipse will last about one hour and 12 minutes, according to NASA. It will be seen in North and South America, as well as Europe, Africa, parts of West Asia and the eastern Pacific.

However, skywatchers can camp out early for the partial lunar eclipse, which will begin at 8 p.m. ET in the United States. As the planet's shadow dims the supermoon, this will create dramatic viewing opportunities for observers. The eclipse will reach its peak during the 10 o'clock hour, giving the supermoon a reddish, copper-like hue. The event should end after midnight.
Out West, where the horizons are often not so affected by city lights, is a good area from which to see the skies.
