  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I don't have children but I do like the Montessori method. I think it makes a little more sense when done at home (like homeschooling) but I'm sure it's good in other situations as well. If you like the place, I'd go for it.

Has anyone enrolled their children in a Montessory academy, instead of a regular daycare? If so, please tell me what you thought of it. Thanks!

My oldest was in Montessori, as was I as a child. :) I think the method is wonderful, it really enables children to get out their and explore, and I believe the learning retention is much improved over normal methods. The flexibility is great. The only thing I worry about is the discipline. Kids aren't taught much about patience or sharing, and caregivers usually don't get involved in squabbles, so she who shrieks the loudest wins. That was the case in my daughter's school, anyway. I would have sent the other kids, but we relocated and our area doesn't have a good program.

There is a Montessori school near our house that is Pre-K thru 8th grade. My SIL is the 1st-3rd grade teacher. (Its one teacher for 3 grades in montessori.) We are still considering whether to send our children. My son luke is in Preschool at our church now. He starts Kindergarten next year and i am not sure exactly what we are doing. We might be homeschooling, otherwise probably the Montessori school. i have read lots of books and talked lots to the SIL and LOVE the Montessori method. But the cost is huge, more than twice the cost of Private Christian school here.

We looked into it for our ds but were put off with how ridged they were - we didn't want he to go for too long to start off with (he was 2 and 5 months when he started playschool) but with them you had to send them in for the whole session which was 4 and half hours. Plus they didn't like you taking them out to go away etc.
