  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I don't know whether or not the creators of Monster drinks intentionally put anti-Christian symbolism on the cans. I think the claw scratch=666 was a pretty big stretch of the imagination in all honesty. Even if everything pointed out were true, that only makes the can designer/approver *possibly* anti-Christian. The drink itself is an inanimate object, it is neither good nor evil. Furthermore the Bible says it's not what goes into a person that defiles them, but what comes out. You may choose not to support Monster, but drinking their product is not inherently good or evil or sinful or whatever you may be thinking.

I don't buy stuff with that type of labeling/graphics/wording on it.

A healthier energy drink alternative:

Electrolyte Sports Drink

Yield: 1.5 liters

1/2 liter of ginger water, recipe below

1 liter of water

juice of 3 small lemons

1/2 tsp. sea salt (adjust to one's own taste)

stevia (to taste) or organic coconut palm sugar

Ginger Water:

1medium-sized ginger root

1 liter of water

liquid stevia, or organic coconut palm sugar to taste

1. Cut ginger into large coins and place into a large pot.
Add water.

2. Bring water to a boil and then simmer for 15 minutes.
Shut off heat and let the ginger water steep until cool.

3. Add liquid stevia to taste and store in airtight container,
pitcher, or jar in the fridge.

1. Mix all ingredients together into a large jar or pitcher and
stir to combine.
Refrigerate and now you have a healthy, natural sports drink!

Also, I wouldn't eat Hell's pizza either. You don't know which god it was sacrificed to when they make those things.

But if you have to, say a prayer before you eat it. Tastes disgusting anyway. As do those soda/energy drinks.

Energy drinks probably are not the best for you, especially with regular use. But it keeps me awake in situations where I would not otherwise be awake. I only use it when I know I would risk falling asleep on the job or behind the wheel. I'd rather be a little messed up than get into an accident (where I or someone else could get really messed up) or risk being fired. I don't use it regularly.

Concerning the video, that's paranoid conspiracy crap which assumes that people won't recognize the mark of the beast when it comes. Yet an actual reading of Revelation will show that accepting the mark of the beast is tied to worshiping it, which is an act of the will. I don't worship a beast or an energy drink or a company. When that happens, we will know.

I laughed at how crazy this lady was. She was REALLY grasping at straws. You can probably make any item seem evil if you wanted. I remember a few years ago on FB, older people were posting to stop using LOL because someone discovered it doesn't mean "Laughing Out Loud", but instead means "Lucifer Our Lord". ^_^

Evil? No. Possibly harmful? Yes.

I used to be able to drink those things, and I felt really good all day long. But anymore I cannot drink them. The last time I had one (and it was the first time in months before that) I felt good for about an hour, and then felt light-headed, nauseous, weak, and devoid of any energy for hours and hours after that.

Why get riled up over the symbolism --people have bought music albums and tee shirts for years.

If the term "666" originated in the Bible (perhaps) then are we labeling the Bible subversive too?

It's embarrassing that this viral video becomes the stereotype for what Christians do for their faith walk.

(And yes, risky pertaining to ingredients and container substance.)

Other similar research on symbolism was for the purpose of learning whether groups were communicating with each other publicly over threats, or desensitizing a society, spreading propaganda. It was not about the evil of the numbers themselves, but why people might have used them to communicate timing or agendas.

The video confuses me -- why would the woman go to the effort of renting a thousand-dollar table at a conference, set aside other responsibilities for a weekend... to tell people not to drink a beverage brand?

Cui bono?

Is she getting paid by the competitor, by an organization trying to make Christians appear intolerant and irrational? Trying to use it as a springboard for ministry? There's something about the credibility of the video event that seems off base.

Best example of how people can become extreme about these things when it comes to symbolism is this (using the CF logo):

See how ridiculous that sounds? ^_^
