  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Some of my views are conservative.

Pregnancy is normal and good.
Programs should help with free childcare.

Transgenderism is a bad idea for many reasons.
I support teaching intelligent design in colleges and universities.

PBS should have a show for Republicans.

I thought Firing Line, hosted by William F. Buckley, was excellent. The PBS website is telling me that the program has been relaunched, this time hosted by Margaret Hoover. I haven't watched the new version of the show, but she's a Republican, so it might be what you're looking for.

Does she support ending the Ukraine war ?

Does she support UN peacekeeping from India, Brazil, and Australia?

I don't know, because I haven't watched her show. However, if you google "pbs firing line ukraine", you'll get links to half a dozen episodes in which she interviews various people about the situation in Ukraine.

Well, in that case, there are two Catholic churches that are aligned with your views insofar as they embrace Catholic liturgics and regard themselves as Catholic while having female clergy, those being the ACNA (Anglican Church of North America) and the NALC (North American Lutheran Church) as well as some of the more traditional Anglo Catholic parishes in the Episcopal Church and the Church of England.

I agree. However, not everything that should be the case is; I should own a Ferrari 250 GTO and have a date with Greta Garbo, but those are also impossibilities given the present conditions.

I am not so sure Australians really want to be involved, but helping Ukraine for humanity's sake seems good.

Could a woman priest represent the Holy Spirit,
Why would anyone want, or need, to represent the Holy Spirit?
ALL believers can be filled with/baptised in the Holy Spirit. He lives in each one of us and is transforming us into Jesus' image and likeness. How can any finite, fallible human being represent God's Holy, eternal Spirit
and celebrate Mass on Monday ?
As "Mass" is the Catholic name for the eucharist/Holy Communion and Catholics do not allow women to be priests, the answer, undoubtedly, is no.
Other ordained Ministers - also known in the C of E as priests - may celebrate communion on any day they wish.

I was referring to the Holy Spirit’s ability to teach new languages.

Could a woman priest represent the Virgin Mary ?

The Spiritual gift of speaking in tongues is not quite the same as the Spirit "teaching us new languages."
A person who speaks in a language they have never studied, or learnt, is given that ability to worship and pray to God. They may not recognise the language they are speaking and if anyone said to them at another time, "speak to us in Chinese" or whatever it was, they would not be able to.

Whereas learning Chinese, or whatever, means studying it and learning it from scratch.

I don't know why anyone would want to "represent the virgin Mary" - you'd better ask a Catholic.
Although as they don't have women priests, I suspect the answer will be 'no'.

Never, a female priest in the Catholic Church is not possible. In another church? Potentially, but since you are Catholic I interpreted your question through that lens.

You might have a priest teach new languages,
so you can spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ
in new languages.

Well you might.
But a Bible school/missionary college could arrange for their students to learn the language of the people they would be working among.

What's that got to do with the Holy Spirit and speaking in tongues?

Does anybody speaking in tongues speak a language like Chinese without learning it in your experience?

In Anglican and Episcopalian Churches, yes!

In a Catholic Church, never.

Yup. It's a sin and a mental illness.

I doubt that they are taught, or believe, that they are "representing the Holy Spirit."
