  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Do you still have any silly little momentos of your childhood? These are the things that keep surviving move after move or every downsizing.

I kept the two little stuffed animals that fit in my church purse (an owl & a mouse) and I kept a little plastic Xmas mouse given to me by my first real crush (and first kiss) in 8th grade even though that never turned into anything because neither of us were very good at admitting that we had a crush.

I guess I also have a few momentos that I have hung onto that don't have good memories. I have a few tokens from my dad that really just remind me of how many times he let me down...one is a charm bracelet that I was supposed to get a charm a month for a year....it has three charms. I kept it because I liked the charms but holding it really makes me sick to my stomach. Maybe it is time for another clean out. If I can't get rid of some of those "bad" memories because it still has value as something my dad did give me, maybe I can reduce them down to a box that always stays closed.

I also have my husband's radiation mask. I kept it because it is the exact silhouette of his face...however, it is also a reminder of a less than happy time. I still can't throw way his face though.

lol yes, I do! I have a small plastic MG midget car that a friend gave me in High School. He drove a 1952 TD series MG, and I always liked that car. We never dated, but I thought he was cool. That was 50 years ago.

I have the rocking chair that my mom rocked me in sitting in my bedroom, and the hand stitched prayer that is framed that my grandmother made for my nursery. My parents also recently did some cleaning and gave me some of my 4-H project books from when I was a kid.

It'd odd, but my biological father is very un-sentimental. I was at his house and doing some work for him in his shop and he had an old sweatshirt that he was using for a workbench cover. I noticed it said "USMC" on it and he said it was part of his old PT uniform from Marine Corps boot camp in 1961. I was sad that he didn't think enough of it to preserve it. I would have loved to have it!

Actually, the fact that he still has it...even as a workbench cover means it meant something to him...and maybe still does
