Moment of Joy

Two of my best friends are my sons. How cool is that? When my wife picks me up from the station after work they both want me to come to THEIR window first. They love going out and playing Star Wars with friends and having fun on the jungle gym and being with friends, but they are always excited to see me come home, they love my stories and hanging out with me whether it's watching movies, playing basketball or going by the river. I pray with them before bed every night and either read a story or tell a story to them. They like the ones I make up best.

I feel kind of humbled by this--I never thought I would feel such love in all my life. It's totally different from loving my wife. I just wanted to share that, and wanted to invite other people to share what joy they have in parenting.

This morning my 4 month old daughter reached up with her hand and touched my face for the first time. I remember this with my little boy as well - makes it all worthwhile.
