• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Seems like most folks here don't quite understand Molinism. There's really no logical or even theological problems with it; it all boils down to whether or not God has to actively do EVERYTHING to be sovereign, which, IMO limits God quite a bit. God could do zilch and still be the top dog. Molinism IMO makes the most sense of quite a lot of theological issues presented in Scripture (not all, as there are some discrepancies) but it's a solid way of looking at things.

2Ti 4:3-4 For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, (4) and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths.

Its not in scripture - I see that as a theological problem.

Nowhere does Dr. White say that God causes men to sin. You may retract your statement now.

I would like to disagree with you Hammster - slightly.

"...it is utterly inconsistent to transfer the preparation for destruction to anything but God's secret plan." "..God's secret plan is the cause of hardening."
J Calvin Book 2, Ch 23, Section 1

God ... arranges all things by his counsel, in such a way that individuals are born, who are doomed from the womb to certain death.
J Calvin Book 3, Ch 23, Section 6

This is how we know with total assurance that we are elected, predestined before the foundation of the world.

Men sin because God predestines all things. The big issue is that we can be totally sure of our salvation and that God uses this sin to demonstrate his own mercy and therefore glory.

Whether it is 'fair' or not is not for the clay to determine. Only the potter.

Bottom line is, Molinism cannot be defended from Scripture, or it would have been after 585 posts. There was plenty of opportunity to do so, and plenty of requests made for Scriptural proof, all of which were deflected, ignored, and rabbit trails created to steer the conversation away from the blatantly obvious reality that Molinism cannot be proven from Scripture. Not only that, it was clearly established that the real point was yet another rant against Calvinism and Calvinists. That was what was really being pursued in this thread. It was an attempt to goad and bait Calvinists into posting reportable posts, a tactic for which the OP was repeatedly disciplined.

The OP failed to make his case, beyond any doubt. Molinism is an unscriptural doctrine that even the Roman Catholics have abandoned.

I agree with you.

My only point directing the member here is that there is a ton of information in this thread, other than the obvious rants by a certain member against Calvinsts, if they only take the time to read through this.

God Bless

Till all are one.
