When we volunteer, we are asked what forums we would like to work in. Moderators are allowed to select which forums they moderate. Sometimes they will be refused certain forums, but they'll never be told they have to work a particular forum. A moderator can work as many, or as few, forums as they think they can handle.

As far as time is concerned, all we ask is that moderators donate 30 minutes of their time to moderating a day. If more time is donated, that's great. If less time is donated, it becomes a problem for the other moderators who have to pick up the slack. So we reasonably ask for 30 minutes/day.

There are no shifts and there is no expected time to be logged in. There are, when doing certain actions, specific things we need to do (for proper documentation) but by and large each moderator has their own style. All that is asked is that we use our best discretion and always use charity in considering and performing our actions.

We do have a chain of command, we do have guidelines we are expected to follow, we do have a system of accountability in place.
