I'm sure I'll be pretty liberal about what my boys wear, since the immodesty is not an issue, but I'll tell you one thing. Pants that are falling off the butt is OUT. I will NOT allow it. That probably drives me more nuts than anything. One day, at a store, I saw some kid running across the parking lot into Walmart and his pants, which were belted on below his hips, fell down around his ankles. He just pulled them up and kept running!

I had a guy deliver furniture to my house dressed like that. He had on very loud boxer shorts and his pants were belted halfway down his thighs. Just picture him on the low end of a very large dresser going up my steps. He bent over and ALL of it slid down. I saw a full moon that day and it was UGLY. I called the company that I bought the furniture from and complained. I also wrote to the President of the company.

Personally, I don't think there is any excuse for the way some parents allow their children to dress. I'm not saying we should resort to wearing burkas, but things have gotten out of control. Why....WHY would anyone allow a 10 yr old girl to wear....no PURCHASE....short shorts that say, "JUICY" on the rear end? I actually saw that at the mall this summer and she wasn't with a pack of peers, she was with her mother.

Here we see Woody sporting the latest in Feral Outfitters "getting bucky with it" fall Whitetail deer line of clothing. Properly worn, this is sure to make anyone go completely unnoticed. Notice the tastefully worn facemask webbing, which allows air through, but keeps your face hidden from those prying eyes. This ensemble is completed with the latest in racoon scent cologne & scent blocker boots.

So, how do I look? Too much? Not enough? (Just remember, girls, Woody is taken so hands off!)

Ok, so I'm distracted with giddy excitement over an annual rite of passage for men all across the country.

Absolutely not! Not if I had a girl. I've seen younger than 10 year olds with those stupid things on!! It's astounding, really, what parents will let their kids wear.

During the time I went to the calvary church, people came in whatever they wanted to wear that makes them comfortable. I only wore church dresses. I remembered seeing a church member who came in completly black boot and long black skirt last year or the year before last year to the church. I can tell you that I didn't feel that her spider-like outfit was appropriate...althought it was modest. It was a dress and cover up specific part of her body but...it was just different from the dresses I wear to church. By the way, during the time I went to the calvary church, other people dresses appropriate in jean and shirt. Other wore modest dress...dress that you can wear around the house as a mother.

I got to say that I don't have any interest for men who wear their jean half way down there bottom. I don't find it appropriate to dress that way because that is like a girl in a dress sitting on a rock with her knee together and feet on the ground..with people passing buy and noticing what she wear underneath. I don't need to know what people wear underneath.
No worries when I have children, there won't be any of those skirts that are short over to their bottom. The week before last week, one girl came in to take the elevator...(dress in black with spider stocking, only that her skirt was short over to her butt. I could see the skin behind her) Then 10 minutes later, another girl came in dress in similar outfit. More students was inside the building sitting down waiting to go to class....next thing you know, these students (especially the boys) was staring at the skin on her bottom. It was so viewable. The skirt was just too short. Again I saw what no one ought to see... Yep, this was at my small private college.

I don't think that you're extra picky. I'm a girl and I feel the same way. My shortest skirt covers my knees with two inches to spare when I sit.

Thank you, on behalf of your male friends. :) Ladies who are modest not only honor those around them, they also honor God by showing respect to His temple.

My question is, what sort of husband do immodest ladies expect to attract?

I guess it would depend where you were. I'm thinking if you were walking around town, or heading into church some people might notice your attire!

I've always impressed upon my son that young girls are potential wives....and they are potential wives for all the young men out there. He should always think and treat young ladies the way he would want someone to treat his future wife.

It is a lot easier to explain this stuff to my children now that they are older. When they were younger, it was difficult to go into WHY without having to explain all the s*x aspects. Also, all the high profile media cases of young girls gone missing has helped me to explain a good reason why we won't be dressing this way. We've never allowed any immodest clothing, my children know the difference and they don't even ask.

I'm a talk radio sort of person. A year or so ago a local radio show was talking about this subject. A pediatrician called in and mentioned that he has little girls come in his office wearing underwear with suggestive comments on them. When he advises parents that those underwear aren't really a good idea (i.e - what would a pedophile think of them) he said the parents either don't understand his point or they just get angry that he's "questioning" their parenting.

Usually, this time of the year, you might see quite a few men in camo walking around town. It is quite the fashion rage come November when you live where I live. It would be quite different than wearing that outfit on a certain street in D.C.

I did threaten to dress as either Luther or the Pope next Sunday, just to liven church up a bit. :priest: You know, in celebration of Reformation Day.

What are your views on Christian modesty, especially regarding women? I have some thoughts but would like to know what others think as well. Do you think that God requires women to be modest in more than just their dress?

It depends on what message you are trying to send...

And it depends on your definition of modesty - this is a cultural thing, with not many absolutes.

We want to see that picture, too, Woody! :D

This weekend I saw one of those "six foot rats," as my hubby calls them, in our neighborhood, and it had antlers!
