Modern day systemic racism, does it exist?

Because when you are a minority in the USA, the accusation of racism against a white person is a very powerful tool. Ending racism would take away that power, and such people do not want to lose that power
So the minorities have the power? I think not. It's the white man that rules this land

I think a Chinese woman who went to college here has not had the same experience of a black man who grew up here. Didn't you say something about Asians have it better than white men?
There's lots of possible reasons. If you're a racist...and you justify your racism by claiming some victim hood status....then you don't want to let that victim hood status go
It's hard to let go of being treated like a second class citizen.
Oh I'm long since past the concerns of "my image" or "my good name" or lying to people to appease them in some way
Good for you, own your racism if that's how you feel.

Of course I am very aware of racial attitudes
here, including my hostility at the sound of
British accent , and hatred of Japanese.

At uni in NYC I impulsively sat by a Japanese
girl in class. We are both tiny like 150 cm.
She is just the nicest person ! She invited
me to visit in Japan, I've had her here.
My prejudice just evaporated. And left
me feeling foolish for my past attitude
but so much better! Cleaner.
I also said to myself. Quit being like
that toward British! Especially coz
also at uni, a British prof i
respected so much!

As for what I have or have not
experienced at the hands of an
American racist, I'm not about to
play "more victimer than you" in a
hostile debate with anyone. Ugh!

Obsessing about racism is for losers.
Im determined to be a winner, not let
fear hate or trauma control me.

Not quite sure what you are meaning by this, but I can assure you, there is no single person who rules the USA, it is ruled by a variety of people; of all races, religions, ethnicities and colors.

Yeah, but when it comes to corporate America it's mostly white guys.

I think any two people anywhere have not had the same experiences. In fact. I'm sure of it.

Didn't you say something about Asians have it better than white men?

Better outcomes in several categories, yes. I never said they didn't experience racism. What kind of racist believes that?

It's hard to let go of being treated like a second class citizen.

Sometimes the alcoholic doesn't really understand the drink is what's killing him.

Good for you, own your racism if that's how you feel.

I don't know of any racist beliefs I have, not ashamed of that either.

I don't know why you would imagine that I do....it certainly isn't because of anything I said.

You're the one who holds race as an important part of his identity. I wouldn't mind if I never was asked to check a box on race ever again. It's superficial to me.....

I think a lot of white people probably felt the same way....or if anything, they didn't take pride in it. I guess it's possible that a lot of them felt ashamed of it....but that doesn't make much sense if it's genuinely unimportant to someone.

That's why I never accepted any blame or guilt or shame for it... and I've only ever argued against those who think I should. It's not a responsibility for me to care about nor a thing in need of examination. It's completely devoid of meaning.

Yeah; and when it comes to the dirt poor, it's mostly white guys.
So what, they run corporate America. No matter how much you champion their cause you will never be white.

Corporate America does not run this country; Politicians do.
And there it shows how you don't know what lobbyists are. Politicians are puppets

Because you are so gung-ho about proving there is no racism in this country
So when I said I didn't accept any guilt or shame for being white....

And you suggested that maybe I should.....

And I asked you why I should.....

Your answer is that it would prove something about racism not existing or some other such nonsense?

That's not what you were originally going to say....you just chickened out....

I'm not going to report you....I like honesty, remember?

Go ahead and give me the answer you originally had before you got cold feet.

Why should I accept guilt, blame, or shame for being white?

First of all, if Corporate America ran this country, they wouldn’t need lobbyists to influence politicians.
Second; there is no such an entity called Corporate America; that is actually a reference to all big businesses, and what is good for one business is often bad for another. That’s why you have different business often promoting politicians on opposite ends of the business spectrum.
So no; big business does not run this country; politicians do. Do corporations lobby and influence these politicians? Yes! But their influences cancel each other out because they don’t act as one; they act as individuals.

I had grown up in a place a time where a thick "southern" accent sounded....dumb to me. This wasn't anything spoken....nobody told me this....but that's how it sounded. When I got older and realized it, and recognized that it was itself a stupid belief... I tried really hard to figure out where it came from. I never really did though. My best guess is just tv and movies from when I was very young.

.It's a pretty bad bias to have. To hear an accent and just assume this person is vastly mentally inferior....but it's hard to say where it comes from if there's no example from your life nor anyone around you explicitly stating this idea.

I just realized one day that I had this really unreasonable prejudice.

Good for you, now let go of your prejudice. Unless you are incapable of doing that. Then do you
