I've been looking for something new myself. Age of Conan is coming out, but meh... it doesn't interest me that much. Warhammer is bound to be a complete disappointment as EA is a horrible company whom I will never give my money to ever again. They don't exactly have a good track record with MMOs as it is anyway.

I'm personally waiting for Darkfall

Ive been out of the online gaming loop for a while now. Im curious, besides WOW, what games are out there. Could anyone reccomend me something that is half way decent and doesnt cost an arm and a leg to play?
Heh I agree, besides WoW heh, but depends on what mmog genre you are interested in and what you mean by arm and leg for cost. Cheapest title I know of is probably Anarchy Online. It’s sci-fi, has free access to the classic areas which could keep you busy for a year, and access to expansion areas is like $8.50/mo is you pay by the year. There are a lot of “free” games, but those usually come with fees for purchasing power-ups or items which potentially could cost more than the regular monthly fee games. I have a 100% free mmo game nearly complete, but I’m just waiting for some server app work to be completed before launch, which will probably be this summer and from a datacenter server so to handle player bandwidth load. Not a big game though, just more of a small test game for my system as I work on my main game project, and has maybe 16 hours of content play not counting PvP for those that want to play beyond the regular content level-up grind.

Hmmm… for maybe the regular fee, you could look into City or Heroes or EVE Online, those are pretty good and well developed over time. Fee isn’t so bad considering that it keeps you focused on the game for a long time to come rather than finishing the game and buying an new game every month which adds up to spending much more per month. I remember before mmog’s were around, I’d easily spend $50/mo on new games, but since the mmog’s have more content they save me from buying new games all the time.

Guild Wars is alright, especially considering it's free (outside the initial purchase price). I found it a bit repetitive after a while, though. Guild Wars 2 is coming out, I believe this fall. Again it's supposed to be free online play, it might be worth checking out.

There's also Lord of the Rings Online, made by Turbine, I've played that for a while and it's been pretty fun. 15$ a month (a bit less if you buy more than one month at a time).

Age of Conan looks, to me, like it's going to be awesome.

I play WoW too.

I really want to try Guild Wars, but unlike WoW there doesn't seem to be a public trial. It's great that there's no monthly fee, but I still would like to try before I buy...

For quick fun, though, I really enjoyed Portal. You can buy it stand-alone (instead of with the Orange Box), and it was clever, creepy-funny fun.

I don't recommend guild wars or age of conan if you liked the big seamless world in world of warcraft. Both of the games are instanced, meaning you have to load every new zone you enter,and the zones are also duplicated if too many people joins them. Theres also alot of single-player stuff in both of them, and i cant really understand why they are called mmorpg games when you can only meet others in certain places.

WoW is also instanced, though the actual world isn't, they instance most dungeons, which I personally think is still a waste.

Darkfall = no instances. ;)

EvE Online is very different than WoW... not as much grinding, slower play and a bit more intellectual. I've been playing for a few months and it's been cool.

I'm personally waiting for Stargate Online and I'm hoping to see a new Star Wars online game in the future at some point.
