  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Who are some of your favorite missionaries from years past or currently serving in the Kingdom? If they are still alive, please post their link so we can check their ministries out.

Personally, I'm fond of Hudson Taylor & Amy Carmichael. Heidi & Roland Baker are too that are currently enlisted in God's army that I follow. They can be found here.

Amy Carmichael and Hudson Taylor were the first two missionary biographies I read as a youngster and they made a huge impact on my life. Also Gladys Aylward.

Recently, I've been blessed by Naomi Reed's books. She and her husband served in Nepal for several years and I found her trilogy of books on their time there very helpful.

Not to overseas ministry but to a ministry in my home country. Her books aren't just standard 'we did this' type biographies, but look at the spiritual lessons she learned during her time in Nepal. For example, one looks at the various 'seasons' in their lives and I found it particularly helpful during seasons of waiting & grieving in my own life. Another takes up the theme of home - home has always been very important to me and it is obviously important to the author too. They had to evacuate their home in Nepal at one point due to the civil war, and her physical place of refuge became somewhere unsafe - so she looks at what 'home' means and the way that as Christians, our permanent home is with the Lord. I found it really helpful when I was finding it hard to leave my physical, earthly 'home' and move somewhere unfamiliar. Her books always leave me wanting to read the Bible more too, which is definitely a top reason to read them!

Ah, I see. Keeping a pilgrim just passing thru attitude has always been a challenge to me too. Like the preachers say; we should learn not to post our tent poles too deep cause this isn't our home. And any book that inspires us to read the Word is always going to be a winner. Thanks for sharing!

I liked Rev. Richard Wurmbrand (1909—2001). He was a Jewish Christian who was imprisoned by the Soviets for his Christian missionary activities. A European church paid a ransom to the Soviets to get him out of jail. He and his wife moved to the USA and founded Jesus to the Communist World; now known as Voice of the Martyrs missionary group.

The Apostle Paul was one of the better ones, wasn't he?

St Francis De Sales (1567-1622)
He is sometimes called “the gentleman saint” because he showed kindness and an openness to debate at a time when both sides were very vitriolic.
He was born in Switzerland and went to a region of southern France where over 95% of the population had left the Church. At first people would not even let him speak so he used pamphlets and tracts
