Regardless ... any services by the VA should be for veterans. If they are using the VA for billing services this still would impact veterans ... that is creating a backlog

Some migrants are veterans. The ones who are should get veteran benefits; those not, should not. But that's an entirely moot point as this service being paid for by ICE is not a veterans' benefit.

Only if the VA is not charging ICE enough to cover the additional workload that their claims processing demands create. I covered this back in post #19.

What are you talking about? The story in the OP is about ICE contracting with the VA to handle doctor bills. These migrants aren’t even getting seen by VA doctors much less serving in the military.

Just saying military service by migrants is the long term plan ... and by having the VA handle the billing ... is just the first step towards that.

What's the logical progression here? How do we go from ICE providing medical treatment to migrants to those migrants serving in the military? What would be the steps involved and how does ICE using the VA's billing services get us towards that?

It's what Durbin is putting forth ... when a migrant joins military service they can become a US citizen after 1 year which is much shorter than the normal way ... through our current immigration policy. By having the VA doing the billing .... then that aspect is already in place that would then would spill over into complete VA benefits.

Then what aspect is already in place? The VA isn't servicing migrants. The VA is servicing ICE.

If it's just a "billing thing" ... there are many agencies that could do that .... so why did the pick the VA?

I don't know about the billing thing but my VA is terrible where I live we can't seem to keep doctors.

I don't think this is true because I thought the minimum enlistment was 3 years. I've been hearing about amnesty for 15 years and it's proven that the politicians don't want it on both sides. Whenever we had a unified government they were quite like church mice. It was only when we were divided that they mentioned it. We can't keep doing the status quo and joining the military is a viable option.
