ICE using - and paying for - an electronic claims processing portal that happens to have been developed by the VA in order to process claims (which ICE pays from its own budget) from medical providers for care for undocumented detainees does not constitute "migrants getting veterans benefits".The point is migrants aren't veterans and should not get veteran benefits.
Regardless ... any services by the VA should be for veterans. If they are using the VA for billing services this still would impact veterans ... that is creating a backlogThey're not getting veteran benefits. Only the propagandists in the OP (and those they dupe) are trying to conflate medical billing services with "veteran's benefits."
This is what it is really about.Immigrant Veterans in the United States
Immigrants have served in the U.S. armed forces since the nation's founding. In recent years, a growing share of U.S. military veterans are immigrants, due to shrinking numbers of veterans overall and a rising number of foreign born. This article offers details about the composition of the...www.migrationpolicy.org
Some migrants are veterans. The ones who are should get veteran benefits; those not, should not. But that's an entirely moot point as this service being paid for by ICE is not a veterans' benefit.
Non-citizen veterans fight back against deportations over non-violent crimes
Some non-U.S. citizen veterans who were deported over non-violent crimes say there needs to be reform.abcnews.go.com
Only if the VA is not charging ICE enough to cover the additional workload that their claims processing demands create. I covered this back in post #19.If they are using the VA for billing services this still would impact veterans ... that is creating a backlog

No, what this is really about is manufactured outrage and disinformation. This is what it is really about.
You flat out claimed that migrants are not veterans, but you are mistaken as they might be (whether or not you agree with the policy, some migrants factually are veterans). But this is an unimportant tangent.
that is creating a backlog
No, it isn't. It has nothing to do with that. This is what it is really about.

Yes it does .... it shortens the path to citizenship and that is what the Biden administration wants. You don't know that and nobody in the OP claimed that. They merely tried to insinuate that.
No, it isn't. It has nothing to do with that.
But this article and what it's talking about has nothing to do with migrants serving in the military for a path to citizenship.Yes it does .... it shortens the path to citizenship and that is what the Biden administration wants.
What are you talking about? The story in the OP is about ICE contracting with the VA to handle doctor bills. These migrants aren’t even getting seen by VA doctors much less serving in the military.Yes it does .... it shortens the path to citizenship and that is what the Biden administration wants.
Just saying military service by migrants is the long term plan ... and by having the VA handle the billing ... is just the first step towards that. What are you talking about? By that logic, my paying with a credit card at my local coffee shop is the first step towards me getting a job as a software developer with Square.Just saying military service by migrants is the long term plan ... and by having the VA handle the billing ... is just the first step towards that.
No it isn't .... we are talking about government ... and government does things in incremental steps.By that logic, my paying with a credit card at my local coffee shop is the first step towards me getting a job as a software developer with Square.
What's the logical progression here? How do we go from ICE providing medical treatment to migrants to those migrants serving in the military? What would be the steps involved and how does ICE using the VA's billing services get us towards that?No it isn't .... we are talking about government ... and government does things in incremental steps.
Durbin proposes U.S. citizenship for illegal immigrants through military service
It's what Durbin is putting forth ... when a migrant joins military service they can become a US citizen after 1 year which is much shorter than the normal way ... through our current immigration policy. By having the VA doing the billing .... then that aspect is already in place that would then would spill over into complete VA benefits. What's the logical progression here? Durbin? This has been going on for at least twenty years. Bush signed an EO in 2002It's what Durbin is putting forth ... when a migrant joins military service they can become a US citizen after 1 year which is much shorter than the normal way ... through our current immigration policy. By having the VA doing the billing .... then that aspect is already in place that would then would spill over into complete VA benefits.
Then what aspect is already in place? The VA isn't servicing migrants. The VA is servicing ICE.By having the VA doing the billing .... then that aspect is already in place that would then would spill over into complete VA benefits.
This makes about as much sense as the time my senile grandpa declared that Elizabeth Warren was Warren Buffet's wife and they were working together to undermine the US economy because her last name was the same as his first name. It's what Durbin is putting forth ... when a migrant joins military service they can become a US citizen after 1 year which is much shorter than the normal way ... through our current immigration policy. True ... but at that time we were not experiencing mass migration .. now we are.Durbin? This has been going on for at least twenty years. Bush signed an EO in 2002
U.S. government offers citizenship through military service
U.S. government offers citizenship through military servicewww.army.mil
The U.S. government is offering American citizenship to immigrant Soldiers through an expedited process in turn for their military service. If immigrants have correct documentation and are approved for the expedited process, they may receive citizenship in as little as three months.A,A Former President George W. Bush signed an executive order in July 2002 permitting immigrants with green cards to become U.S. citizens upon being sworn in, according to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
we will seeThis makes about as much sense as the time my senile grandpa declared that Elizabeth Warren was Warren Buffet's wife and they were working together to undermine the US economy because her last name was the same as his first name.
If it's just a "billing thing" ... there are many agencies that could do that .... so why did the pick the VA?This makes about as much sense as the time my senile grandpa declared that Elizabeth Warren was Warren Buffet's wife and they were working together to undermine the US economy because her last name was the same as his first name.
I don't think this is true because I thought the minimum enlistment was 3 years. I've been hearing about amnesty for 15 years and it's proven that the politicians don't want it on both sides. Whenever we had a unified government they were quite like church mice. It was only when we were divided that they mentioned it. We can't keep doing the status quo and joining the military is a viable option.when a migrant joins military service they can become a US citizen after 1 year
