Vance Luther Boelter, the suspect in the weekend shooting of Democratic Minnesota lawmakers, is a former pastor and an appointee to the Governor's Workforce Development Board. He was named to the board by both current Gov. Tim Walz and former Gov. Mark Dayton.

The 57-year-old is accused of fatally shooting state Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, at their home in a Minneapolis suburb on Saturday. He is also suspected of shooting state Sen. John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, at their residence farther north.

His ministry background includes international missionary work, particularly in Africa, where he preached at LaBorne Matadi, a church in the Congo, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Perhaps there was personal grievance motivating this man's misguided rage. Motivations are often complicated. People can confuse their anger with righteousness. Perhaps a cautionary tale. In psychology, this is called ego projection or transference, and is a real risk of distorted religious or spiritual practice that doesn't focus on developing repentance based on self-examination of ones inner motives and dispositions.

Former pastor and Minnesota shooting suspect Vance Luther Boelter made it to the homes of other lawmakers on the night he murdered Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband, in addition to injuring Minnesota Sen. John Hoffman and his wife.

The 57-year-old suspect will face federal charges, which include stalking an elected official and shooting at two officials. Authorities took Boelter into custody on Sunday following a manhunt that lasted 36 hours.

During a Monday news conference, Acting U.S. Attorney Joseph H. Thompson said that Boelter "planned his attack carefully" by researching his intended victims and their families through the internet and by conducting surveillance of their homes.

Uh. Well. There are two Minnesotans who can't answer that anymore
Uh. Well. The Shooter was a left wing nut. His "silenced Minnesotans" voted for no more Medicaid for illegals. The left wing nut made $$$$ off of medicaid for illegals.

I don't believe Mr. Boelter was an undocumented person and thus the restriction on MNCare would not cut off any money to him. Nor was he a healthcare provider who could perhaps benefit from MNCar payments.

The gentleman in the video is simply a liar. For the sake of your soul, I urge you not to repeat those lies, no matter how good they make you feel.

I have seen no evidence of this and you have not provided any. Considering Mr. Boelter's other affiliations such as with Christ for the Nations, which appears to be a rather conservative organization.

I applaud Christ for the Nations for being willing to admit Mr. Boelter was affiliated with them and denouncing his actions. Whether or not to believe CFNI's attempts to distinguish their teachings from Mr. Boelter's actions is an exercise for a different day or thread.

The Shooters money was cut off with the MN vote.

The left will eat their own.

Prominent MAGA figures — including the president's son — have amplified false rumors that the Minnesota shooting suspect was a Democrat in an effort to paint their political opponents as violent.
The big picture: In the wake of shootings and other tragedies, social media often becomes fertile ground for misinformation and conspiracies —now fringe theories have found mouthpieces in the mainstream and among elected Republicans.

  • Alleged gunman Vance Boelter held conservative political views and was a "strong supporter" of President Trump, according to those who knew him.
  • A friend told CNN Boelter strongly opposed abortion but never expressed any particular anger with the shooting victims. The friend told CBS Boelter would "be offended if people called him a Democrat."

Remember when white supremacists were insisting that the Jan 6 insurgents were leftists? Until Trump pardoned them all, and the story changed.
