Royce White, podcaster who railed against Jews, wins Republican nod in Minnesota

Candidate has described himself as an ‘antisemite,’ said Jews invoke Holocaust to cover for corruption, and called Israel the ‘lynchpin of the New World Order’

Royce White, a former professional basketball player turned right-wing podcaster, won the state party’s endorsement at its convention over the weekend. More than two-thirds of the delegates voted to endorse White, though the state party said its endorsement came with “reservation.”

Since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war on October 7, Royce has also opposed his own party’s “unwavering support for Israel,” calling Israel “the lynchpin of the New World Order.”

--

His endorsement has also raised some scrutiny of his failed 2022 election bid

GOP Senate Candidate Spent Thousands in Donor Funds on Strip Clubs, Luxury, and Mysterious Wire Transfers

At five in the morning one week after Republican Royce White lost his 2022 Minnesota congressional primary, his campaign shelled out more than $1,200 in donor funds to a vendor 1,800 miles away not typically associated with political expenses—an all-nude strip club in Miami, Florida, called “Gold Rush Cabaret.”

Several campaign finance experts characterized some of the expenses as potentially illegal spending.

The unusual expenses include a total of more than $100,000 in mysterious wire transfers and checks reported as paid to the campaign; hefty tabs at spicy nightspots; getaways at posh hotels in at least seven states; thousands of dollars in limousine services; unexplained cash withdrawals; eye-popping purchases from electronics, sporting goods, clothing, and musical instrument retailers; and the DribbleUp smart basketball training app that White himself admitted might be personal use.

“We’re not talking about small stuff,” said Brendan Fischer, a specialist in campaign finance law and deputy director of Documented. “This takes us well outside the realm of FEC fines. This looks a lot like the kind of thing that people go to jail for.”

I used to live in Minnesota. Thought that nothing like this would ever happen in that state. :(

Hopefully this Royce White goes into jail. It is okay to be conservative, but it is a crime and morally wrong to be an antisemite or racist, especially in 2024, nearly 80 years after WW2 in Germany. Royce White himself would have probably been persecuted back in the 1940s if he was somehow teleported to Nazi Germany, as he is black.

No, it isn’t.

I thought that Title 6 would have protected people from discrimination, as Jewish people are also a race.

If Royce White were a program receiving federal financial assistance, it would be illegal for him to discriminate in his program activities.

However, he is a person, who is entirely free to be racist and say racist things.

That is pretty scary. We got to have better protection for individuals who experience racism in this country, while also protecting 1st Amendment rights. It is a tightrope to find the right balance to criminalize racism, while also allowing free speech.

We can’t because it’s Marxist or fascist (or woke) or something.

The best response to bad free speech is more free speech. Like...

"Hey, that guy is openly racist. Don't vote for him or endorse him for office."

Agreed. We must publicly rebuke the racists, and not vote for racists.

That campaign financing needs to be looked into, but I would not believe him a racist or antisemite based on what that article shared.

Talking about "politically corrupt Jewish elites" doesn't strike you as antisemitic?

Remember when the right was outraged about Ilhan Omar?

Pepperidge Farm remembers.
Ooh, thank you for keeping the Pepperidge Farm meme alive. :) But yes, both parties have gone off the deep end.

Excerpt from my post with Pepperidge Farm reference, where I discuss why the gender bending movement is toxic for society: 4th Circuit Court of Appeals says state health-care plans can’t exclude gender-affirming surgery

Remember the early 2010s, where both parties got along? Remember when the Democrats focused on ending the climate crisis? Remember when the Republicans abolished slavery? Pepperidge Farm remembers.

I live in said state and speaking from personal experience, since before the days of Hubert H Humphrey, Minnesota was staunchly DFL party (Democrat Farm and Labor). In my entire life as a Minnesotan, I have never seen such disunity in the state. With exceptions in both cases, the suburban communities are staunchly Trump. They love the way he flips off and tries to destabilize the Federal Government, taking advice from no one and making no compromises ever. This is a new phenomenon.

The state always had the motto of "Minnesota Nice." But outsiders say "Minnesota Nice = Minnesota Ice" because of the hidden undercurrent of racism and nepotism that exists in the state's government and big businesses. This hidden undercurrent which had always been the counterculture has now become mainstream with certain populations and communities. I fear for Minnesota's future because after

"But with a divided Legislature that has recently failed to agree on how to give away $350 million in federal money to essential workers, it’s possible political gridlock could stymie efforts to spend the surplus on new government programs or pay for tax cuts."

By locking up budget talks, the MN Republicans seek to copy the Federal government (R) plan to obstruct, obstruct, obstruct. No new ideas, only counter ideas. My fear is that we end up with a Republican Governor who will ruin our 7.7 billion dollar surplus. Since the days of Mark Dayton, the Governors of MN (all DFL) have managed billion+ dollar surpluses. We can count on our Republican friends to eliminate this surplus with tax cuts for the wealthy and large corporations until we run a deficit, the blame the DFL. This Republican monster in MN needs to be put down before they gin power, ruin communities, underfund education, and bust unions all over the state. If we go for Trump as President (which they are closer to than just about any other election, the cult of personality will be running the United States into the ground while stuffing the pockets of the 1% and the banks swallowing every ta dollar that isn't nailed down and superglued to the proverbial desk of the government. I fear for my state and have no desire to be in a position to say "I told you so."

Well, both parties got along a bit better back then compared to later years.
Just like France and Germany got along better in 1914-18 than they did 1940-1945.

Sadly, France and Germany relations did not heal until after 1945 when WWII ended. So, in some ways, relations heal after time. So, maybe the two parties would get along better in the future.
