Who should enter into informal preaching even for 7-10 minutes a week. Who would be qualified to do that. 40 or 50 people would be watching. It must be prepared and have good points about the scriptures. Encouraging street people to get saved and teaching them about the Lord and His Word. This is what I did, but what would you do?
What if you don’t say much in real life, what if you don’t study everyday. What if you are old.
Who of you would tackle this very important task, for a year?
Do any of you witness, or not? Having the Holy Spirit is a requirement and maybe all you need for some of you. How much knowledge does one need. Intelligence, popular? Mainstream and those with the gift of gab, these gifts are helpful.

Look it is not clear what you are trying to say.
If this is an example of how clear your mini sermons are then it'll be a miracle if anyone understands what you are saying.

Are you asking about what qualifications a street evangelist needs?
Are you trying to encourage people to get out and evangelize?

If you read it slowly one sentence at a time, you will see I am exploring the things that I did to preach to the homeless for 16 years. But I was becoming disillusioned. Who has done this? What are your qualifications? What does a person need to be like to do this. See?

Personally, I think every Christian is called to be an Evangelist. Apostle Paul says, "How will they know unless they hear?" Well, not everyone, even Christians, look up Pastors on YouTube for sustenance. We are the flock, but we are also to bring out our testimony before others who may or may not be saved. We are called to be a witness to "the hope within us" as Apostle Peter says. Sometimes a small act of kindness is the very thing that gets people to see you as something "not of this world" and that is a glorious thing. We want to make people jealous of what we have in our Lord Jesus Christ. Lead by example. It's great to bring people to church with you, but you have to be able to tell people what you believe and why you believe it as well.

Right that gives me some ideas, and ideas give me confidence that there is more to say to the homeless. I’ve been poor but never homeless. I’ve been on the street a little but never accustomed to it. I wanted to serve God and had compassion on the lost, even had some friendships. But a new generation came they won’t even talk to me and someone else handles their physical needs. I have to handle their spiritual and I’m scraping the bottom of the barrel. I’ve said all I have and still there is no relationship, no input, no refreshing. I think I am going up the wrong tree to win souls. They are cool, I am funky. Even with the help there is distance, even with the pastor.

I think it is important to remember that not all are Apostles. As such, many Christians just need to do Good where they are rather than feeling like they need to go out and change the world. We see the boldness of the Apostles in the Gospels and other parts of the New Testament. But not everyone is called to be quite as bold as the Apostles. For the thousands of Christians in the first century, they didn't have the same calling as the Apostles to risk life and limb in preaching the Gospel. There has to be a balance. There are different levels of a calling for Evangelism. The point I wanted to make is not to say everyone needs to bring up to Gospel with everyone even at the supermarket, but WHERE APPLICABLE, use your witness as a Christian to do what God calls you to. I've had people comment on a Christian Metal shirt I was wearing at the gas station and that opened up a conversation about faith. Those are when I am saying it would be good to say what being a Christian is about. I said, "It's a Christian band shirt. I wear the shirt because I am a Christian and I believe God is Good." It was something simple like that but not those exact words. That's a simple way to say what I was talking about in my previous post. Don't avoid telling people you are a Christian, but you don't need to force the Gospel message every chance you get. Balance for most people.

I like the sound of that boldness but it terrifies me. I can only be so brave and am only so gifted. @Counterphobia . I do understand because I go so far then my brain puts the brakes on. I thought I could overcome anything but I’ve only gone where I was allowed. Yeah and people can only handle so much and it’s like many will not go to heaven by choice God forbid and I can’t help that.

Fighting this entire spiritual warfare has got me questioning my own commitment.

It’s very refreshing to hear you talk about this @Counterphobia. I do appreciate what you ve said in your last two posts as being focused on my dilemma.

I used to go to the park and try to tell people about Jesus. It went well but I didn’t have too much to say then. I think we should be a little more outspoken since things are growing tense like the Lord said it would. Do you believe that Israel becoming a nation again is the crux of bible prophecy? So many lost people have never heard of Jesus. I keep looking for opportunities, but not many in my life. That’s why I went to the park and to a soup kitchen to preach, but I’m so shy. Cold starts are hard. That’s what the apostles did but I’m just plain inhibited sometimes.

well, a little late.....

Hi, sorry I didn't see this sooner @Unqualified.

I think some people DO have the Gift of Evangelism and as such, they have a call on their lives to "bring up" the Gospel at times frequently. Not everyone does, but some do.

My suggestion is to start to study Apologetics if you are into Evangelism. It will help you IMMENSELY in sharing your faith. There are MANY YouTube channels and such on social media who are Apologists. One thing I know is that if you don't do something simply because you are afraid, but not because there is real danger behind it, then you should probably go ahead and do it.

I'm going to share something here now. It is me on the phone with Dr. Michael Brown and I talk about this kind of fear about being outspoken with my faith but doing it anyways. Maybe it will help you? I have it timestamped to the right place. It will only take a few minutes.

that is a surprising scripture. Jesus does really expect us to be men. I’ve never heard it spoken of before. I believe the HS helps us to witness but He doesn’t give courage. We have to find the fire within ourselves.

You have helped me a lot by shedding light on this subject for me @True Counterphobia . Thank you and God bless you.

Maybe somebody who witnesses to the needy... who are you, tell me a little about yourself. Do you find it easy to do this?
Some people can strike up a conversation and get around to the Lord. What is most effective for you? Is it ok just to plant seeds?
Have you heard of the Biblical school of evangelism? They have a great book by the same name. I’m not as talented as they- strictly an amateur. I do what I can, I am not afraid. But....... no
fruit.

Hoo boy. Ok. Let's try to parse this out..

Who should enter into informal preaching even for 7-10 minutes a week. Who would be qualified to do that. 40 or 50 people would be watching. It must be prepared and have good points about the scriptures.

It honestly depends on who you ask, what denomination you're a part of, and what you mean by "qualified". Some churches require you to have certain degrees of education (Bachelor's, Master's, etc.), and some just want you to be able to speak well. It just depends.

Encouraging street people to get saved and teaching them about the Lord and His Word. This is what I did, but what would you do?

I don't know. If I went back in time, I think I'd go to a very different school and study in a completely different field. If I still decided to go into foreign mission work, I think I'd choose a school or program more dedicated to that than the one I chose.

What if you don’t say much in real life,

I assume you mean, what if the person is an introvert? Then you do what you can, where you can. :) Not everyone has the same gifts, and I've always felt mine was more encouraging those who are witnessing, and less going out and witnessing to strangers myself.

what if you don’t study everyday.

I don't think most people do.

What if you are old.

It doesn't matter; do what you can! But if you're infirm, or have serious medical health issues, don't push yourself beyond your limits. It's okay to just pray, and attend church when you can.

Who of you would tackle this very important task, for a year?

Been there, done that.

Do any of you witness, or not?

I honestly don't know what you mean by that. Witness in what way? Covid's left everything kind of...limiting.

Having the Holy Spirit is a requirement and maybe all you need for some of you.

Sure.

How much knowledge does one need.

I think it's important to have a basic knowledge of what the Bible says about salvation, baptism, etc. before setting out on such a daunting task. It's important to be spiritually and knowledgably equipped. Of course, you can't plan for EVERYTHING, and sometimes even the witness of a child who doesn't understand everything can be enough. However, with adults, eventually you'll be faced with very difficult questions, and at that point, it's a good idea to tackle the hard questions together! (Also no shame in saying, "I don't know, but let's study about it together and find out!")

Intelligence, popular?

A certain amount of intelligence, possibly, but you don't have to exactly have a genius IQ.

Popularity doesn't matter.

Mainstream and those with the gift of gab, these gifts are helpful.

Quite so. I think. Maybe? Not sure what's meant by "Mainstream".

Thank you for all the help @MBM888 . All of it was right on.

Im still waiting to hear from somebody who has done it - spoken in a soup kitchen or mission before a meal. Anybody from Pacific Garden Mission In Chicago? Even a door man, what do you do and say to people coming to dinner? LA? Anywhere? I’m just small time. You Might call me worried or obsessed or something.

Just trying to get across the gospel, be a good example, attract some attention to Jesus. Nobody appears to be listening. I know I’ve planted seeds... been to the end of my talent. Studying is helping to refresh me. The dining room will be opened in five months, maybe. Will I be ready? Yes.
