CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Its a great way to at least do a little if that is all you can do.

That's a great site, Mrs. Sidhe. Thank you for pointing it out. I'm not familiar with Mercy Corp but America's Second Harvest is another of my favorite charities.

The nations with ecomonic trobules should model their ecnomoy/government after the US' economy/government.
1)Basic education for all
2)Massive reforms to end starvation/unsanitized water(i.e., employ the unemployed to build new factories and farms).
3)Rights(a constitution) for everybody and especially women.
Take Mexico for example. Forty percent of Mexicans live under the poverty line,yet the Mexican government could easily exploit both of its beaches for tourism.

I'm not certain the problem is as simple as other countries failing to model their economy after the United States. A lot of historical cards fell into the right place at the right time in order to create this economic superpower. It's amazingly difficult to create sustainable development in the third world.
