  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

To be honest, all the guys I went to high school with who ended up in the army WERE hooligans who drank too much. I realize that's not always the case, or even the majority. All of the ROTC guys I've met in college are extremely nice and responsible.

But to be perfectly honest, if a guy told me he'd been in the army the bad stereotype would probably be at the back of my mind somewhere. It wouldn't be a deal-breaker if he had all the qualities I was looking for, but it would make me wary at first. I'm in no way trying to bash guys in the military, or anything. I appreciate the service that you're doing. I'm just saying this to answer your original question, so you can have some idea of what negative stereotypes you have to fight.

Oh my... I do indeed love a man in uniform. It isn't the uniform itself that gets me; it is the symbolism behind it. Strength... Honor... Courage... Bravery... All of which I find very attractive in the opposite gender. I find a man who is willing to serve God and country to be very sexy. My bf (jesuspickedmeup) is a Marine. Technically he is no longer "active," but as he says... Once a Marine, Always a Marine. Lol :D
