I feel the same as CarrieAg93! I would appreciate art better if it were a little more affordable. I may go up to $10,000 or $20,000 for a really good piece, an artist on their way up the scale. ;)

However, I'm too much of a cheapskate and would try to do an artwork of my own first. :)

What if it was like, Michaelangelo's (sp?) King David ? Or some other incredible work like that ? (im sure that is highly collectible...:p) If I could be guarunteed of its appreciation, of course I would. And the situation would really make a difference too (I like most robert bateman paintings more than the mona lisa, but I'd buy the mona lisa for a million long before I bought any of his paintings for a million. This would be assuming I could get ANY work of art that I want for a million dollars. If I was not allowed to sell it, and I only had four million to start with, and could not charge people admission to see it, then no. I would not buy a work of art for a million dollars. I would put that four million to work, and once it had grown to many times its original size, THEN I might use a fraction of that money (one million) to buy a work of art that would make me money (either through appreciation or admission fees).

Michelangelo, Rapheal,Romare Bearden, Padlo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh and my favorit Edward Munch painting are worth much more than 1 mill. So if you can buy something for 1 mill that worth a lot more and I mean a lot well... the one alternatve is to buy the painting and sell it times what ever you can get it for or feep it for pleasure.
Like I said anything art for a 1million even if it worth 6 million.
Im thinking egyptian arts and artifacts.
