  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I like Mike Huckabee very much; it's impossible not to like him, he's too charming and reasonable. But I agree with those who say he's too much of a big government Republican to be the best choice as a nominee. I think he serves best where he is now, as a TV personality with his own show on the Fox News Channel.

I voted for Bob Barr on the Libertarian Party ticket this time around. My state went for Obama 57% to 40%, and I knew it was going to be something like that, so voting for McCain would've been just as much a futile protest vote. That being the case, I figured I might as well vote for the one I actually agreed with.

I'm not at all sure who'd be my top choice for 2012. Bobby Jindal is certainly a possibility, but I'm sure many more will arise, especially if Obama doesn't do well.
